Which 285/70/17 is best for 7" wide TRD rim?

I got some TRD rims and plan to get some 285/70r17's on there. Most of the tire manufacturers suggest at least a 7.5" rim, but it's been done on a 7" rim without problem.

Would a certain load rating be better for this setup? Is a harder sidewall going to be better/worse?

I am considering Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo 3 (which i believe is C-rated) because it's listed at about 12 pounds lighter than a DuraTrac, or pretty much any other tire that size.

Thoughts?

Look into Goodyear Wrangler Ultraterrain AT from Discount Tire. It looks like they have a Rim Width Range 7.0-10.0 on 285/70R17

Which 285/70/17 is best for 7" wide TRD rim?

I tried running 285s on a 7” wheel. How much could that 1/2” difference make?

I’m here to tell you it does. The tires never sat right, ride quality was shaky and wear would have been horrible given the way the tire bulged out since it wasn’t the right size.

I changed to an appropriate size wheel and all my troubles disappeared. No matter what your girlfriend says, size does matter.

I run BFG ko2 load range E 285's on my Pro rims and they look, drive, and perform great on and off road.

Be careful. Airing down can also be an issue on a more narrow wheel.

I know you CAN and people DO run them, but you really shouldn’t.
