Hi All,

I'm in a market of purchasing a 2014 4runner and I have reached to the point which I need some direction or advice.

Which 4runner should I go with.

1. SR5 4x4 premium
Or
2. Trail premium

Also, if I'm not mistaking there is $5-6k price diff between this two vehicles.

I will be using the vehicle for:
1. Everyday highway commute.
2. Camping 4-5 time a year.
3. Fishing and outdoor activities every other weekend and no extreme off-roading.

I will appreciate your advice and also give me some pro and con between this models.

Thanks

Around here I was only seeing about a $1K price difference. Since the Trail came with some other goodies I wanted (homelink, nicer rims) that would need to have been added aftermarket to the SR5 Premium, I went with the Trail Premium.

Check prices though. For $5K difference I would have taken an SR5 Premium and been happy. But loving my TEP so far. No regrets!

On edit: If you find $5K difference, make SURE the SR5 is 4x4 (assuming that's what you want/need). There are a lot of 4x2 around here, and they were indeed considerably cheaper than the 4x4 SR5's. Just a thought.

Have both 08 sr5 11 TE with nav/jbl/kdss honestly either one be perfect for you and what your doing. Just decide wether you want for goodies you will get with the trail if you won't be using them get the sr5.

If you have the money go for the TE. The SR5 will easily meet your needs. It is an extremely capable vehicle for all of your stated uses. If its the look you want like the hood scoop and nicer wheels go for the TE. I'd be happy with either. I do like the extra features like the locking diff the TE has to offer.

Do you like the hood scoop?.........yes, buy the Trail

Have you seen that video on Crawl Control in the Trail and do you see yourself using it?..........yes, buy the Trail

Can you afford the extra price of the Trail?........yes, buy the Trail

Do you want to have the Trail just to have a Trail and not an ordinary SR5?........yes, buy the Trail

For my decision to buy a 4R, all of my answers were NO. I have the SR5 and love it. We have done some serious off roading in it and I know it'll go and do the same things that a Trail will do. Maybe not have the auto pilot like controls of the Trail Crawl Control, but I like to "drive" my truck.

My $.0000002

Good luck.

Even with only casual off-roading, you only have to find yourself once in a position where that locking rear differential gets you out of the bush and safely back home ...... then the Trail Edition is very much worth the extra money.
