Which battery should I get?

My battery died on me (works when I jump start it though) and I'm in the process of looking for a new battery. I am looking to purchase the yellow top optima battery d35 from amazon for $185 shipped but I read on here they now suck. So what should I go with? I have an aftermarket stereo, HID retrofit, HID foglights.

I have access to Costco. What's a good battery (price and best place to buy)? Thanks.

EDIT: I have a coupon for Advance Auto Parts, so I would like to buy a battery from there, which ones are good?

I've used Optima for the past 8yrs (9 different vehicles) and I havn't noticed any defects or lack of quality. When did they move to Mexico? I can pull my truck on level ground for 100ft with my winch just off battery. That's riding the brakes a bit to get the cable to lay right on the spool after use. Not somethhing I normally do without the engine running but thought I'd just try it. I also have a solid 800WRMS getting sucked up by the sound system, no capacitor and the headlights do not dim at all.

Another good thing is that they are solid state and therefore pretty indistructable. My buddy ran mine over with his car (accidentally left behind it) all it did was put a little crack in it and I was able to take it back to Advance Auto for a return. Just had to tell them it cracked because of the summer heat.

I love em' and won't have a vehicle without one.
 
I am now using the Odyssey PC1500 in the 4Runner. You'll need to fab up a spacer because it's a shorty but the battery has been great. I have had two Optima Red Tops fail within 3 months of purchase in the last 1.5 years...both made in Mexico. My original US-made Optima lasted ~7 years.

Fail? DO you run any large amp drawing accessories? I have a red top in a truck back home that only gets used maybe a few times a year and it always starts up, been in there for 5yrs. I'm all about the yellow top now though, just a little more kick.

The 34R RedTops have been made in Mexico since around 2007 and quali6ty complaints have been widespread. I love my 2006 US RedTop but I won't buy another.

Nope...no high-amp accessories in either of my vehicles. The one that failed in the 100-series has been replaced by another Optima which has worked fine. The failed 4Runner battery was replaced with the Odyssey.
 
I have red top34Rin my Ridgeline that I installed a year ago and transferred to 4R 3 weeks ago , ridgeline was running big sound system, no problem in first year. so far holding charge just fine.Now I have brand new fCTORY BATTERY SEATING IN GARAGE DOING NOTHING.

Get the DieHard Platinum ( Group 35 ) from Sears. Same battery as the Odyssey 1500P, better warranty and Sear's are everywhere! Plus they are cheaper too

That's what I picked up for my secondary "fridge" battery. So far I've been impressed, but I haven't put it through any real torture test though. Like many other I gave up on the Optima batteries years back after having my second one be no where near as good as my original. I found a lot of favorable reviews from the guys running the platinum die hard in their expo/camp vehicles so figured I would give it a try.

Agreedon sears battery,using them for 4 carsfor6 years,no problem
 
The Kirkland batteries at Costco are really good. Mine is going on it's 8th year and is still going strong. When I do get another battery I would probably get another one or upgrade to the DieHard Platinum since its basically a rebadged Odyssey.

IIRC, HID lights actually draw less power than Halogens.
