which brand brake pads and rotors

2007 4runner sr5 v6:::::

I went to pepboys they recommend front and rear rotors and pads replaced...they did a thorough check for free by taking off the wheels..
Their estimate with prostop rotors and ceramic pads for front and rear is around 600$ with 18months /18000miles warranty..

If I buy only genuine Toyota rotors and pads for front and rear costs me 850$ for parts only...

can any one suggest what is the best after market rotors and pads if i want to get it installed from a pvt mechanic is prostop a good brand?

my mechanic will charge 150$ for front and rear rotors pads replacement.

I like Akebono ceramic pads as they've been rotor friendly and very minimal brake dust buildup and even that takes a while.

I usually use factory parts and find them on the internet cheaper. I get 60-70,000 miles from a set of factory pads. I also get at least 140,000 miles out of a set of rotors. But I would have the rotors checked with a micrometer because places like Pep boys will upsell you a new engine if you let them. If this is your first brake job I doubt you need rotors.

Thanks for reply..Actually i just purchased this 4runner..not sure the guy did the brake job before i believe he did not and it has 44000 miles on it...my local mechanic says your front pads are good but rear pads are totally gone..how could that be possible...what i thoiught was the front pads go 1st and then rear..is it cheap to re surface the rotors than buying new ones...sorry i am being too silly i dont know much so i need help..
i feel vibration in stearing and also rear part when i brake that means the rotors are bad...
