Which front O2 sensor to buy

I found multiple O2 sensors for a 2001 Sr4 6 cylinder at Austozone.. The pictures were totally different and both were about double the price of partznet for the Toyota one. Anyone have any ideas whether I shoudl order the Toyota one or try for a local buy if i can figure out which sensor. This is for the sensor in front of the cat...

The partznet one will have a higher probability that it will be the correct one and it is cheaper. So what is the problem? Order it tonight and you will have it by mid-week. Tomorrow hit the O2 sensor with penetrating fluid. They can be really hard to budge.

Thanks - after looking at the link I bet that Autozone has two versions - one for California and one for the rest. Online is great but I was thinking of doing it today. However saving 150 bucks makes it easy to postpone:)
 
Usually Autozone will carry a universal and a direct fit. The universal one is cheaper. Everytime we our a customer has used a universal it usually ends up throwing the CEL for that O2. Go with th direct fit. There is a reason why there is a difference in price.
 
That website is a great price. In like a month or so I plan on changing my oxygen sensor.

How easy is it really? I have minimal auto experience, all I've done to my car is really rewire my amplifer to get rid of engine noise. And changed the battery.

Will I have trouble changing it? Should I just buy it online and pay someone to do it for me?

And should I be worried that this price is really cheap? Is anything wrong with getting a denso o2 sensor?

Personally, I like the Denso units based on the fact that they have a perforated metal "cage" surrounding the sensitive sensor tip; I think its supposed to keep it cleaner & contaminate free. Maybe this only applies if you have a tendency to touch* metal things like I do. *Re: the sensor tip, you're not supposed to touch it as skin oils or other substances on your hand from working on your car can affect sensor performance.

I cannot validate the above, but it seemed to make sense. I've also read that you can simply clean an O2 tip by hitting it w/ a butane torch to burn off any contaminates.

W/ all of this said, are you changing it b/c your throwing an O2-related trouble code? If not, you may want to look elsewhere for what is affecting your engine performance and/or driveability.

I assume you've had a tune-up done recently... Have you cleaned your MAF? Easy & cheaply done w/ a $6 can of sensor cleaner. Just trying to rule things out.

I was also skeptical at first but after checking some other forums and and technical articles I have to agree that it is fully possible for the 02 sensor to be malfunctioning and causing those issues without a code being present. And for the price I personally would just replace it, probably all of them at this point...

I got mine from URD and changed it myself. My first one. I do a lot of tractor and lawn mower repairs but not that much on cars. It was pretty easy once you get under there and find it (California is in a different place than most of the stuff posted). 2001 should be the same as a '99 Cali, I think. Four months now and no CEL; breezed through NJ inspection last week. I highly recommend URD; theirs is the only listing on-line I saw that broke out Cali. manual so I could get the right sensor.
 
I'm under the impression that there are two "front" O2 sensors and one rear, which front one is to be replaced? Or am I just completely lost?
