Which front springs to use?

Ok so I have looked and looked and looked for some Tundra TRD front springs and it is taking too long and I have had no luck. I have checked junkyards from California to New Mexico and nothing. The main reason I was trying to find them at a junkyard was to save a few bucks but now I would just like to find a good alternative to the Tundra TRDs. I have heard that the ride quality and flex is very good with the Tundra TRD springs so that is what I am looking for now. I was looking at the Toytec front springs and was wondering should I be getting the ones for the Tundra or ones for a 4runner? I plan on using the Billie 5100s to go along with whatever springs I get. Any opinions are much appreciated. Thank you guys in advance.

You may try sonoran steel lifts.
Toyota Lift Kits: Lift Kits, toyota, 4 Runner, 4 Runner Lift Kits

He does a kit with those springs, but I'm not sure if he'll just sell them outright. You could also buy OEM replacements from a parts dealer...trdpartsforyou.com and ToyotaTRDParts.com are places.

I believe the toytec springs you are looking at are specifically made for our runners through Eibach. I don't know if toytec sells stock Tundra springs.

The Eibach's / Toytec's fit FJ's and other models, so search for the part number, however I gave up since they are out of stock and will not give a date when they will be in stock. After talking to them multiple times it doesn't sound like it will be anytime soon.

I ordered brand new TRD's for $118/coil from 1stToyotaParts.com. Shipped the second day with cheap shipping.

I bought 5100s (TUNDRA) from Down South Motorsports for 220ish shipped plus the dirt shields (another 20$)

So for ~$500 shipped I got the Tundra Bilstien 5100's with dust caps, and new Tundra coils.

Downsouth will have the 5100's in stock this Wednesday.

He does, but they are 560+ shipping I think. It's on their webpage.

Steve says "specifically valved" but they share the Tundra strut part numbers exactly.

Toytec uses Tacoma 5100's. From reviews the Tundra seem to be the ones you want.
 
A good setup but its still a little pricey is what I run.

OME 881 front coils $169
OME Comfort front shocks $260
Steves Front 1" Lift sleeves $50

It gives 3" full front lift and the correct droop with Steves lift sleeves so the ball joints stay happy. The top spacers create excessive droop which is not good. It rides nice and performs awesome. Another good setup is Eiback springs with billies.
 
I started looking for Tundra TRD springs this morning. Within 45 minutes of posting my WTB thread I had a set. They're out there. I personally think the ride from these is far superior to anything else you can buy. If it's not a DD it may not matter but if you're in it everyday, ride quality is important.

How do you compare them to the Eibach's?

I have yet to read anything bad about them, plus they don't have the coil contact issue, and they provide less rake, which to some is preferable?

I went Tundra springs because of lack of options, but I would have gone Eibach if they were in stock or could even put a date on it.

Never been in one with Eibachs so I really can't compare. I do hear good things about Eibach too though.

I'm going to be running Tundra TRD's on 5100's, 2nd perch with 8 wraps and 5150's out back.

Same set-up here. Just ordered last week. Except I'm running LC Tokico shocks in the rear hoping for a stiffer rider so it handles load a bit better. (camp gear, 80lb dog, hi-lift, dirt bike hitch carrier, sled trailer, etc.) Maybe bumpers in the future.
 
Everything really has a good ride if you do it right. Only buy springs for the weight they are rated for. So if you plan on a future bumper dont go getting stiff springs becauser ride will be horrible untill you get the weight.

With OME and billys stuff always go with the softest shocks. Any of there stiff shocks will cause a harsh ride. But if running LC rear shocks you want a stiff shock to compensate for the soft springs.

Myself I like having 3" of front lift. If you go with TRD springs you get only about 2" lift. If you raise the shocks to 2.5-3" lift the ride starts to go to crap so there is no point going with TRD unless you want to stay at 2" lift. 2.5" is still stiffer ride than my OME setup.

You need the 11th and 12th coils listed on this page. They need to be from a 1st Gen Tundra, 4WD Access Cab with Off Road package. They will have color codes on them...yellow/yellow and blue/yellow. They are $118 a piece.

So I ended up going with OME 881s and Tundra bilstein 5100s. I am wondering which perch on the 5100s should I use?
 
what height did you get

I'm in the same boat. I'm looking for a set of trd's but can't find a set so I was thinking of using 880 or 881s but I don't want more than 2" of lift to go with my 906s in back. Let me know what perch you used and what you ended up with.

have you looked at the new pics of my runner, i have over an inch of rake and im running my brand new TRD coils on the 5100s on the 3rd notch, its not harsh at all (infact everyone who has rode in my 4runner sense the lift comments on how smooth the ride is and how nice it handles), so i would recommend the 3rd notch/setting, other wise your gonna have some crazy rake(yes im running 8wraps in the back with 5125s.

also some guys have had issues with the 5150 shock housing turning while flexed and then when coming back down the frame shears/snaps off the reservoir and destroys the shock -thats why i didnt get the 5150s. unless you are a chase truck or planning on doing 80+mph down wash-boarded roads you will never know the difference in the 5125 and the 5150s, other than looks.
