I have had cars that were picky about what gas I put in. My old Acura Integra would not run right on 87 octane. I found it ran better on 89 or higher octane. The 3.4 seems to run smoothly on anything. I usually use most any gas, Exxon, Shell, Quick Trip, what ever is at hand and I use the lowest grade.

76 - 87. Last time I used Shell my car felt really sluggish till I refuled.

PLus I get 15 cents off per gallon at the 76 by my house

Where I live, the only options are 85, 87, and 91...I've never even seen 93, and I don't ever see anything as low as 85 anywhere else. Conoco 87 for me...

All the Conoco's around here (there were 2) got turned into BP's. Shell does perform as well as Bp IMO, but nonetheless, Shell is the better than Food City and Walmart.

Hmm. I thought BP would be chosen more. I got 17.2 miles per gallon with BP, and around 16.5 with Shell. Close, but FC and Walmart give me around 15 MPG.

i've used Quick Trip 87 octane for the last 108k out of 110k miles.

changed my fuel filter at 98k, cracked it open and it looked real good....didn't actually need changing, but did it anyway.

still average about 20 mpg all around.

just my .02

Quick Trip says they guarantee their gas. If there is a problem that is related to the gas, they will cover it. BUT, I think it would be hard to collect on that, especially if you use different types of gas.

I do like that they have free air. I have a Quick Trip right by work and I like checking the air in the tires about once a month. Other gas stations are now 75 cents for air. I have no problem with their gas, except for waiting in line while the guy in front of you gets a beer, a package of cigarettes and 17 lottery tickets.:bash:

that's the reason i always pay at the pump... especially out here in gwinnett. use a discover card, pay it off every month, and they pay me at the end of the year. :D

usually fill up about once a week, so it works out ok.

Do you guys run a full tank of 93 around once a month to clean your engine?

Once maybe every month is way overkill. Maybe every 10k to burn off deposits due to the higher octane but even lower grades are refined well and have detergents to keep things clean.

Lead footin...

Hammering to at least 3500 rpm on starts with about 6 floor-board occations, Ive gotten approximately 195 miles on 3/4 of a tank with BP 87. Testing Shell with the same senario this week.
