Which Jack Stands to get??

Black4runner

I need to change out my brakes on my Mazda6. I never did this before so I am going to buy some tools. I need jack stands and a jack. I was thinking that I will change the my 2007 4runner brakes soon also.
Besides weight, the 3 ton jack stand extends to 21" vs the 17" on the 2.25 ton stands.

So will these jack stands and jack work on the 4runner? I am concerned that they will be too low.

Or should I just get these for $20 more? I have to buy rotors, brakes, new tires, etc so if I can save $20 here and there then I will.

Taller is always better. That was the first criteria for me. The amount that the jack needs to lift is actually pretty minor (I forgot what the weight of the 4runner is, but you'll only be lifting 1/2 of that anyhow).

As for the jack stands themselves, the only problem I have with the Sears ones (I have 6) are that the actual part which touches the frame is U shapped and it isn't large enough to fully straddle the frame member. I just use a hockey puck (have 4) to pretty much make it a flat level surface.

Yeah, I've used those type to lift a different sports car and the welded seal got bent. I just don't want the tips of the U portion of the jack to maybe/possibly exert too much pressure at a single point.

Hence +4 hockey pucks.
