Thanks for answering my question! I wasn't looking for mods since such behavior doesn't bother me. But I was just wondering if that was normal and the car didn't have any electrical issues. Thx!

You didn't get the point, so "let me spell that out for you"
If you wanted to show me how to use Google, then show me how easy it is to formulate my question in google and then how easy it is to pick a relevant answer from the results page. Don't show me how you are typing "map lights mod" and getting the map lights mod post. Trust me, if I wanted a mod, I would have found it in seconds.
The fact that the "light issue" is mentioned in this article doesn't make it an easy find. There was no reason to express your sarcasm with lmgtfy. If I wanted to know why my TPMS light was on, then looking for TPMS mod wouldn't make any sense. Even if such article came up as a search result, I wouldn't click it, because I didn't need a MOD.
Again, I have nothing against the mod. Great DIY. And yes, there is my answer in it. But the way you presented this info was full of sarcasm and I think I didn't deserve it.

Did you actually click the link? It shows you exactly what I put into the search bar that led to the results I so graciously shared with you. Since that must be asking too much I'll copy and paste it from the link I posted for your benefit. "4th gen 4runner map light mod" I took a (literally) 20 second google shot in the dark and found your answer. I can see how sarcastic this all comes off but at the same time it's not that serious. Yes it would. TPMS sucks and I'm really grateful to the guy that figured out the bypass. If you can drive a car, you better be able to check your tire psi manually.

If you go to lmgtfy.com > About > read the description, then it might become clear that lmgtfy is not for sharing graciously for one's benefit, as you mentioned. lmgfy is a slap on the face with instructions: "step 1: type in your question, step 2: click the search button. Was that so hard?"
Well my question was "is that normal that the front dome lights stay off when the doors open, on a 4 gen 4runner?"
Your question was "I've got some free time for some mods for my 4 runner! What mods can I do to my map lights?"
We can agree to disagree. If my TPMS is broken, then I search for a TPMS fix, not mod.

Kevin, thanks for sharing. With this mod, what happens if you manually turn the map lights on? Will that simply override the "new" behavior and the lights will stay on regardless if the door is open/closed?
What happens if you open the door (map lights will turn on) and then you also manually push them on? Is is the ground wire that you are running or a second V+ wire?
