ARB locker help and parts list.

Hello all,

ARB front and rear lockers are in the near future for my 2006 V8 4-runner sport and need some help with a parts list. ARB offers 2 different lockers for the front differential. Part RD111 for 3.91 and higher differential ratio and rd121 for 3.73 and lower ratio. Does anyone know what ratio my truck has?

Second, since the differentials will be apart, would be a good time to replace bearings? Is it necessary to do this? Would it be advisable to replace the outer rear bearings as well? I am not sure if the axles need to be removed. Am I making more work for my mechanic? I will be bringing all the parts to my mechanic as I want only factory small parts to go back in the truck. The truck has 81,000 on it currently.

pretty sure it's 3.73, i think the earlier v6's had 3.91 (03-05)

I'll chime in and say that it's your call on bearings. That's the same mileage I had on mine when I went locked and I did not replace bearings. East cost gear supply guys weren't really recommending it either. You have to pull the axles out about 12 inches or so to remove the third member. My advice is do not try to do any of this project without disconnecting the rear speed sensors on each wheel. Two 10 mm bolts and disconnect the harness. Many have tried and broken the harness, don't go that route. And also clean the housing inside and out thoroughly before you reinstall third member, and check torque on third member nuts after driving. If you have a good mechanic do this he/she will give feedback on how the gears look as they are disassembled such as pebbles, etc in third member. per the torque, they only go to 24 lb pounds or so (don't recall exact) but its not much. Keep an eye out for leaks and change fluid after 500 miles or so. I highly recommend looking at east coast gear supplies web page as they have some great info on there
