Which seats should I buy!?

I know most would say stick to first gen seats if you can find them to keep the slide function. If I can't find 1st gen seats in good condition does anyone know of another seat option for my 88? I just checked with the local Toyota yard and they quoted me 200$ for 98 seats

I've owned a 3rd gen, those seats are really uncomfortable if you sit in them more than 45 minutes! I would say don't go newer than 95 seats.

As far as I know, there's nothing that will bolt straight in besides 1st/2nd gen 4Runner seats (or minitruck seats, but they won't slide). Anything that doesn't fit doesn't fit and will require fab to make work. Most guys cut the brackets off their old seats and weld them to the new seats.

Comfort is relative and individual. What one guy thinks is the bomb might give somebody else an immediate backache. Find something that looks comfy and is about the right size and run with it. If they suck, find something else.

I know a couple of fellas that have gotten new seats from Summit racing, and seem to like them. I am considering getting some from them. Aprox. $150 per seat, plus another $40 or so for mounting system. You could also have your seats re-done at an upholstery shop......

you can go with the racing seats from o'reileys and do like kidv said and cut off your old brackets and weld them to the seats

I used Prp suspension seats they slide front to back on the mounts they offer no tilt on mine but we get by. Remember the top comes off. They also offer a seat that tilts and custom mounts.

the o'reiley seats have a tilt too and they are fake leather so you can get them wet without a prob

I have a set of MKIII Supra seats I was thinking of trying out in my truck.

Driver's side is power, 12 way adjustable, comfortable as hell.

Just gotta dye them black. I read that the front bolts fit in great and that you just need to drill a couple holes for the rear bolts to fit.

Passenger side also slides forward for rear seat access

I made the mistake of sitting in a waiting room chair and it happened to be a Corbeau GTS seat. Damn sneaky salesman. They make a bracket for the first gen according to the salesman but with the two seats and bracket they are about 800 bucks. Comfortable is subjective but my @$$ was in heaven. I am commuting about 800 miles a week in my first gen so next purchase will be a set.

I am I'm the process of doing the same thing in my '86. Front and back. I got seats from a '93 that are in awesome shape at the local pick n pull for $50 for both buckets, the back seat and all the hardware. The front seats were easy. The driver side actually bolted right in no problems, but on the passenger side all but 1 bolt lined up. So instead of doing the whole cut/weld/rig/pray I can get the old brackets on the new seat I just decided to drill a new hole which actually the floor was reinforced where I had to drill the hole so I just put a bolt and nut on that one. I believe it was the rear right bolt. I may in the future go under the truck and weld the nut to the floor just so I won't need two sets of hands if I ever do need the seats out. It doesn't have the tilt/slide feature but I can live without that. The back seat is a ongoing project and plan on making it a thread when I'm done. Hopefully it is successful as my scrappin buddy came by and scooped up the old seats and took them to the yard, I was gonna hold off til I was done but all well, more initiative to get it done.
