Anyone have any advice on which snowboard rack to get? Which one do you have and why do you like it? Which ones should I stay away from and why? Are they hard to install? Post your pics if you have them. Thanks everyone!

Yakima FatCat 6. lower profile, little to no wind noise (from what i can remember), can hold 4 boards, high quality hinges.
Really easy to install. 8 allen wrench bolts. IIRC, you just need to buy locks for them.

Oh wow cool, I like the way that looks. Does it flip up and over so you can have easier access to put the boards on and take them off?

Not sure what you mean. in the first pic, i modified the mount so i can bolt it directly to the floor of my roof rack. the fat cat 6 can be raised on one side to increase the clearance below but i still run into issues. I'm designing a cross bar to work with my rack that can adjust the heght further.
with stock cross bars you don't run into this issue.
the rack is double hinged meaning that it opens like normal but extends upward to accommodate 4 boards: Yakima › Shop › Snow › Top › FatCat 6

I had a Thule powderhound rack, it was bulky, noisy, and the release mechanism was cheap. I would recommend any Yakima snowboard rack, they have a few varieties and Yakima makes a great product.

The 'big powderhound' can also fit 4 boards and is $50 cheaper than the fatcat 6, but will be a little noisy. Come this winter I will be selling my roof rack basket and getting this.

Having owned an older Yakima and a Thule and now using a Yakima FatCat 6, IMHO the Yakima FatCat 6 is far and away the better rack over any of the Thule racks or the older style Yakima. The Yakima FatCat 6 is definitely quieter on the road and the latching system just seems easier to operate with gloves on and in general. plus, this is purely my opinion, I think the wider design of the Yakima FatCat 6 holds your boards or skis more securely.

I still remember the feeling as it got stuck. (Tried to show off) 45 minutes of shoveling. Embarrassed girlfriend. Finally called a tow truck.

Got a Yakima FreshSesh for sale. Its the white camo and only used for one season and is in new condition (took it off after the snow melted and put it in storage).
Ended up picking up a FatCat 6 so truck fits in the garage with the lift and rack. On stock factory rack. Easy install if you have patience. Will post pics if you want but it looks like every other truck with a roof rack. Yakima's product is top notch.

I've got the Yakima big powderhound w/locks. It can hold two snowboards with bindings side by side or up to 4 snowboards without bindings. Only downside to them is the wind noise on the highway.
Your setup has made me change my mind, instead of selling my loadwarrior and buying a snowboard rack, I am going to order the loadwarrior extension w/crossbar and a Yakima powederhound. Ill mount the snowboard rack on the crossbar and the rear part of the loadwarrior.

How do you like the rack? Considering the included locks, locking feature to the crossbar, and the price Im looking at this rack very seriously. Is it cheap, noisy, etc?
