Which stereo do I have?

It does not say JBL anywhere. Does the JBL say JBL on it? My 06 has a 6 CD changer, tweeters in the front doors, and the AM/SAT button. It has good sound to my ears.

Also, how expensive/complicated is getting XM radio? I heard that I need an antenna, and a tuner. How do they call it satellite ready if you have to buy aDDITIONAL ITEMS?

This is a picture of the faceplate of a 2005 JBL H/U. The emblem framed in red is what you are looking for and it will either be in white or gold(yellow). In addition your system would have a subwoofer grill in the passenger side cargo area wheel well trim and 2 small speaker grills in the tailgate posts. If you have mirrors in the tailgate posts you do not have the 10 speaker JBL system. You will also have a speaker in the top center of the dash(center channel).

Nope- I don't have the JBL stereo. I guess I have the mid grade radio, as the book shows one that doesn't have the AM/Sat button.

So much for satellite ready- my wife's Acura is truly satellite ready, she just called XM and got a subscription. My understanding is that I need about $500 worth of equipment before the Toyota is able to get satellite radio?!

have you seen where one guy installed the xm radio into the flip down hamburger tray?(lol, thats what i call it) that way its hidden.

I picked up a Stratos 5 car kit for Sirius and added that to the subscription I already had for my siruis ready radio in my Mustang. Then I picked up a home dock kit with antenna and power supply so I can use the Stratos in both the 4Runner and as a portable sat radio. In the 4R, it plugs into the aux input jack in my center console and the car kit included the satellite antenna and power unit. I paid $20 for the car kit thru Sirius and $35 for the home kit on ebay.

There is an AUX button and an input in the center console. I might consider this method as it is much cheaper. How does the unit get power?

For mine, I installed a 12v power outlet under the center console to power the xm radio.

Search for threads that talk about adding a 12v power outlet. Pretty easy.
