Which tires should I go with?

So long story short, I ordered some Pro Comp 16x8 wheels with 265/75/R16 Duratrac's back in October. After numerous phone calls with 4 Wheel Parts, I was finally told that the earliest I would get those tires would be February. The guy said he could sell me a better tire for the price of the Duratrac's, and that's where I need your input. I really want an aggressive looking all terrain, but I will consider a nice mud terrain also. No E load, and I need a tire with good road manners since this is my DD, which only goes off road occasionally. Any input is greatly appreciated!

Treadwrights. On my second set and have no complaints. I drive my family on them and dont think twice about safety.

What's up with 4WP and their slow service? Had the same problem with my Procomp wheel order recently. Went to Wheeler's Off-Road and had the rims down the next week. Same for the tires.

OR Falken High Country A/T ? I happen to like the aggressive tread on these tires.

I agree , I also have treadwrights, I know some people dont like them but iv had mine for over year now and there awsome on and off road, honestly I had km2s and they sucked in the snow , for the price and performance I will continue to buy treadwrights .......

Iv got 10,000 miles on mine and there still hardly worn, just my 2cents

Just my opinion. Cancel order. That's terrible.

Hold out for the Duratracs. You will not be dissappointed.

Km2's suck. mine are a huge disappointment. sure they look nice, but they wear fast, and the sidewalls are thin. even on the load range e version i have.

Get some good year kevlar mtr's
From what i hear and have seen they wear much longer than the km2's

Thanks for the quick replies guys. Yeah 4wp sucks, they are super slow and have terrible customer service. If i cant get them to give me a good deal for the same price, I'm cancelling my order. Keep the replies coming

There is a video of the road noise on the Treadwright mud tires on youtube. I was seriously considering them, but the are pretty loud. Since you mentioned on road manners as an important factor, then it is something to take into consideration.

I'm curious to see what you decide, because I am in the same boat. :beer:

I've had my hankook dynapros for about 5k now. I'm very pleased with them for daily driving , snow, and the occasional tooling around in the dirt. Good bang for the buck.

I just bought a set of Cooper A/T3s (265/75-16), load range C. They have a fairly aggressive tread, are quiet, smooth riding, about $700 installed, and are rated high in forums and magazine articles. They have a 55K guarantee.

I've had BFGs,Nitto TGs on my current runner and the Duratracs are the best all around tire I've had on her. Hold out for them. Btter on the street then BFGs and quite comprable off road. The Nittos were a very good all around tire too but I wanted something more agressive. BFGs kill it off road but on-road they need better dry and wet grip and they don't have the margin of error where hydroplaning is compared to the Duratracs which evacuate water/slush much better than the KOs at 60+mph.

Yet when Consumer Reports takes actual traction and performance measurements, they are ignored.

tylerbaird, go look at Kuhmo KL78 and see if it looks aggressive enough for you. It came out on top (by my reckoning) in CRs recent AT tire tests.

Or just get the tire you'll enjoy looking at and call it a day.

Thanks for the reply Ron. Your truck is actually what made me want Duratrac's in the first place. From what I've heard, these are great tires and the fact that they look so beefy makes me not want to settle for anything less.

To everyone else, thanks for your reply's. My heart was set on the Duratrac's so I really don't want to settle for another tire. I'm going in to 4 Wheel Parts on Tuesday to talk with the manager and see what kind of deals they would offer, even though I'll most likely end up cancelling my order. Also to anyone who plans on purchasing tires from 4WP, I advise that you look elsewhere. The prices are good, but the availability and customer service will make you want to pay the extra cost. I will update the thread once I talk to 4WP. You guys are awesome, keep the replies coming.
