Just picked up some rims for my '03 4runner. This is the first mod, and it is a daily driver. I do 95% highway, so I enjoy quiet and good gas mileage...but I need tires for my new wheels....what size/brand do you reccomend?

16x8.5 -22 offset.

I know...a little crazy...

Thanks
Charles

Charles...

Most people here are going to recommend Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo's, BFGoodrich All Terrain Ko's or the newest seems to be the Goodyear Forterra Silent Armors.

I chose to use something much more street oriented but thats just me. Im a huge Bridge fan and Goodyear finally seems to have gotten its head out of its rear and started designing good tires again.

check those out.

Unlike others around here I'm not a Bridgestone/Firestone fan. I'm a Michelin/Goodrich guy and if this is the kind of driving you do then you can't go wrong with the Cross Terrain. These are better for an SUV application but you could also use the LTX M/S (more of a pickup/van tire) depending on your budget. You get what you pay for. As for size, stock 265/70R16 or I would upsize slightly to 275/70R16.

I would look at one of the michelins in 275/70/16. I have nitto 404's in 275/65/17 and they fit and look good. I think an offroad tread would look better on a 16" rim but might be noisy on the hwy.
