Which trailer hitch do I buy?

I'm looking to purchase one of these trailer hitches for my 2007 SR5 (no factory hitch). I'm not going to be towing a boat or anything like that...mainly just a rack or a small trailer with a lawnmower or something like that. I've seen people recommend the hidden hitch one but I was curious if anyone has any experience with the Curt one.

The hidden hitch is more expensive than the Curt, has less towing capacity and appears to bend the bumper a little when installed. I'm not really looking to chop up my back bumper so thanks in advance for any insight and/or advice.

I have a Curt hitch on my 06-V6 the Curt is rated up to 5,500 with a WDH with a 550 lb tung weight.

I have to say it's an ok hitch but if I had to do it over I think I would go with the Hidden Hitch with the center support.

My camper is a 20ft long Jayco 19H Hibrid with a loaded weight of aprox 4,500lbs and a drop weight of 375lbs.

Hitches

Drawtite and Reese are the TOP names in hitches. Reese bought out Drawtite a while ago. Not sure about Hiddenhitch.

UHaul uses Drawtite/Reese hitches.

In my opinion you can't go wrong with a Drawtite/Reese hitch.

My 4runner came with the towing package so it has the hitch provided by Toyota. Not too sure who makes it for them, but I'm assuming that it's probably pretty good. I tow a camper during the summer also (Coleman). But it only weighs about 2200lbs.

If you're not hauling very heavy weight or very much then almost any hitch will do.

I'm new to the forum and just purchased my custom-ordered 07 Ltd 4WD V6. I looked at the factory hitch ("weight-bearing" on the V6), which is bumper-mounted, but found that a reputable local shop (Eckhart - don't know if they have outlets in your area) would make me a custom receiver that's very beefy. It's made of thick square tubung and plate,welded to the frame on either side of the spare tire area, and comes out right under the bumper. You could probably pick up the whole vehicle by it! Cost was about $300, pretty close to that of the (comparatively) wimpy factory receiver.

Why would you want a hitch welded you your frame? For $300, I would order the OEM hitch for $250.

you'll want to do some research about welding on the high strength steel frame
