Which Type of Tire??

Anyway... my dad has had the 4Runner since... well... before I was born -- 1986... and... well... it's age is showing a bit now...

No rust yet... since it was mostly in the garage, and washed... but the original tires, after 17-ish years, and 94,000 KM, the Dnlop tires are getting a few cracks on the sidewalls... which bothers my dad, so he wants to replace the tires.

I know about all the higher performance tires n such... and these tires are used only in the summer or fall primarily -- so Summer or All-season tires are preferable... and for winter we use Michelin Alpin snow tires...

I was wondering what any of you would have as ideas on tires for my dad's 4Runner... since the tires are still in good enough shape... but before anything bad would happen, he wants to get rid of these tires, and get new ones...

By the way.... the tires are P225/75/R15 I think...

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated -- and why they are selected -- since the truck is used only on-road and on the highway... so nothing off road with huge treads is necessary

Welcome to the forum.

The most famous "street-oriented" truck tires are: Michelin LTX M/S or Cross-Terrains. Both are on the expensive side, especially Cross-Terrains. Cross-Terrains are really good in rain, and is ultra quiet on the highway, which is good because 1986 4runners are not known for their luxury quiet ride.

If you want something more aggressive looking, but still good on streets, check out the Bridgestone Dueler AT REVO.

Of course, you can also go cheaper by getting the other brands. I don't have much experience with them...so i will let someone else jump in.

Thanks for your help... I'll be sure to look into the Michelin brand... My dad doesn't mind spending money on tires -- because that's what connects you to the ground... and also gives quality -- so I'll be sure to check those out
