Which Winch!!!! Need Advice

thanks for all the unnecessary input on my thread guys. I do know that some winches are better than others. I spent what I felt comfortable spending at the time. I am happy with my choice, and getting it for about $400 out the door was pretty good, i mean look up the price of the X20 and you will see.

Anyway, I worked on a plan to fit this thing behind my factory bumper, I got a winch mounting plate to start with and placed the winch in it and took my bumper off, seems as though I will have enough room to weld the plate to the frame rails. I will do my best to take pics and will probably start a new thread on the whole process since I have not been able to find one myself while looking.

apologies, and i must off been on an "off day" or two, didnt mean to jack your thread and or insult you.

ive been interested in this idea on our trucks for a while. but no one has ventured out to do this. i know the earlier ones would not be able to allow this as there is not enough room between the bumper and the rad and supports. but the 99+ rigs should have enough room. i will be interested in what you come up with. i look forward to seeing this again congrats on getting a winch

no need to apologize, bro i was I went to military school and was in the military for 5 years, it takes a lot to insult me, and you came no where near that.

anyhow, I don't intend on keeping the winch completely behind the front bumper, I do however plan to weld the winch mount to the frame, add some support, and then will most definitely have to cut out some of the lower front valance to make way for the fairlead and such. it will be interesting but I know its possible. I'm hoping that after i get it on, i can mount a little bull bar up there to put some lights on and take away from the fact that the fairlead sticks out past the bumper.

I saw a video with some russian guys wheeling 3rd gens and both had the winches mounted in the bumper, looked like it was factory.
