I've got a whirring/roaring noise (not high pitched, kind of a low whomp/whirring/roaring best describes it) coming from the rearnof my 06' Sport. Mostly hear it at low speeds (10-35 mphs). Can really hear it on deceleration like coming up to a stop sign or light. At highway speed (around 55 mph) its mostly a him and 65+ can't really tell it's there.
I've got new tires and it done it before with old tires, so ruling that out. I had my mechanic check it out thinking it was wheel bearing and he thought it was my wore BFGs , but again, I've since got new tires with the noise is still there.
I'm leaning towards either low or old rear diff oil OR pinion bearing. Plan on refilling rear diff with some full synthetic to see if it quitens any. What are the symptoms of a bad pinion bearing?
Its got 155k miles.
