Whistling from dash fan

Hey all,

When I use my dash fans t defrost or for cabin comfort, if I use any setting other than low, there’s a whistling sound. Any idea what that may be and how to fix it.

hows that cabin air filter looking?

jokes aside if its whistling and only on certain settings my bet is the gate that ports the air to the different places isn't totally closed and its pissing by. or whistling by if you will.

Try pulling the cabin filter, then reach around inside the fan cage for any loose debris. Mine was recently making a vibrating noise. I thought the blower motor was going out, but there was just a leaf inside the fan cage. I was surprised that something so small created so much noise. It's at least something easy to rule out.

My blower motor was making a clicking noise that increased with rpm for years after I originally bought it. Page 19 and 41 in my build thread. Ultimately ended up replacing the motor and all has been well.

The fan is pretty easy to remove, and you can keep it plugged in while its removed and turn it on to verify where the sound is coming from exactly.

Thanks for the replies! The cabin air filter looked okay, but I took it out and reseated it and the noise is finally gone. Great advice!
