Whistling Noise - Front Windshield

Has anyone experienced a whistling noise coming from somewhere along the front windshield (haven't pin-pointed the exact location) when driving at speeds above 60 mph?

I have a '10 Limited and can't figure out what is causing this noise. I do have an AVS bugflector on the front that has been there since new. I have not yet tried removing it to see if that is somehow causing the noise.

None whats-so-ever, very quiet. I bet its the deflector as they do change the wind pattern.

Do you have an aftermarket antenna? I had a whistling noise that drove me nuts trying to find for a month and it turned out to be the aftermarket antenna.

Yes, I have a Craven Speed stubby antenna. Did you have that one or something similar (possibly a Mangowalk)?

The Stubby Antenna

It was a chopped Autozone antenna that whistled. But, I did have a 5" mangowalk which didn't whistle but made a loud wind rush noise and the reception wasn't all that great either. If your antenna is the aluminum bullett craven speed stubby more than likely that is the cause of the whistle. I ended up cutting my factory antenna down to 5", rounded the tip with a Dremel, and touched it up with black paint. Much better reception and no noise.. I learned the twist in the oem antenna is what prevents the whistling.

I noticed a whistle at the same speed a few weeks back.my limited is pretty stock. I didnt hear it after a few days

Last time I heard a whistling noise from the windshield it ended up being a bad seal on the top of the molding. They took out the window, put in a new seal and never heard it again.

The AVS bug deflector was the culprit. Man, I liked that deflector too! Any suggestions on an alternative bug delfector would be appreciated.

I just installed the OEM Toyota hood protector today. After the install I drove up to ~55mph and had no whistling sound. Install took 30 minutes only because it was 30F outside and I was wearing my sandles and my hands were freezing not to mention I also washed and detailed it; only to hear I have more snow coming my way tonight. :(

No whistling noise until about 70mph with the AVS deflector. I know it's a little hard to drive 70 when the road conditions are bad. When you get a chance to go 65+mph, can you post if you hear any whistling noise? Sure would appreciate it!

I have a 200 mile trip over the weekend, so weather permitting I'll post my results here.

Good lord! I had a 100 mile trip today and I heard the whistle. I prayed it wasn't my AVS and this thread confirms that it was. :moping:

Yeah, I noticed a whistle around 60 as well, just after I installed my AVS. I haven't decided what to do about it yet.

Sorry I'm a week late in responding. My OEM hood protector showed no signs of whistling up to 100mph, :D. No whistling or my young ears couldn't notice it over the wind noise at high speeds.
