White crap after waxing

Does anybody know how to get the wax off of the black plastic and rubber trim after it has dried? I have it on my running boards and it is especially bad on the plastic and rubber on my roof rack. I tried scrubbing the running boards with 409 to try and get it off but it did nothing.

Ok this is going to sound crazy but I remember a similar post and the recommendation was to use peanut butter. Another was to use Dawn dish washing liquid to strip the wax.

haha, peanut butter. Not knocking it, probably will work. I have also heard dawn will strip wax, that is why not to wash your car with it. Thanks

If you wait it out - the wax will eventually loosen and you can go over it with a J-cloth.

If that doesnt help - try using a Q-tip for tight spots - and a cloth for the rest - you can try some goo-gone or spray9

DO NOT apply directly onto the surface to avoid over spray.

the peanut butter actually worked. not only did it remove the wax but it restored some of the original blackness to the plastic and metal. i guess the oils in the peanut butter helped with that.

distilled white vinegar....

peanut butter also works but cleanup can be an issue at times...but the oil in it does work to help rejuv the black plastic.

Also try Mother's Back to Black for faded black trim bits.

meguirs black trim cleaner...it will take off the white residue w. ease and then puts a layer over it so wont have to deal w. it again...trust me ive tried to get wax on it and it wouldnt

another option instead of using wax...use glaze...it last longer and does a better job, you wont have to worry about swirl marks or residue from it either. just rub on/off like wax but it works 100x better
