White Rim Road

I'm going to be in Moab the weekend of Memorial Day for our local wheeling forum's annual BBQ. I've got that whole week off, though, so I'm thinking that it might be time to hit a trail I've been wanting to do for some time now - the White Rim Road. It can be done in a day if you push, but I plan on taking three short days so I can get some hiking and sightseeing done. I'll hit the trail Tuesday morning, and plan on either making final camp in Mineral Canyon Thursday evening or heading to town, depending on how much daylight is left.

This is an open invite - I know some of you folks get down to the red rock on occasion, and others have been wanting to. Any stock 4Runner should be able to handle the White Rim as long as you bring enough gas, who wants to come play?

I remember that one from the guidebook--sounds like a fun time! Definitely right on the gas, as that's a long trip out in the middle of nowhere. My only concern with that trail would be getting tired of it after a while--I know that area is beautiful, but day after day on similar bumpy, dusty roads could get, well, tiring. Even so, I'd love to come out there, but construction season is here, so I gotta stay put in SD. Have fun out there! Be sure to take plenty of water and a good first aid kit that far out.
