White smoke

I am a new owner of a used 1995 4rnuuner. I am in the process of learning the ins and outs of working on my own vehicle. I don't know much yet but i am willing to learn.
When i start my 4 runner a big puff of white smoke shoots out of the exhaust. I need to know where to start and what to ckeck to find out what's wrong. I read that it could be the head gasket. Any ideas?

White smoke is usually indicative of burnt coolant, Blue smoke indicates burnt oil, and Black smoke is unburned fuel I believe. So yes ur suspicions could be right. The 3.0 is known to have head gasket problems.

Thanks

Thanks for the input! Does anyone know the cost of fixing a head gasket? I would like to learn how to do it myself. If so, any reccomendations?

Having never owned a 3.0 (own 2 22REs) I couldn't tell you. I suggest posting ur question in the Classics section (84-95). There are plenty of members who can give u all the info u need. Good Luck!

Rough guess, $600-800, and that's a low side estimate.

If it's something you think you can handle yourself,do some Searching, plenty of DIY's on the web.
