Alpine is about 35 miles east of San Diego, off Interstate- 8. Best part is I have to drive about 3 miles on a county maintained dirt road to my house! Rain and snow make it even more fun!!

Alpine is a favorite spot to stop and eat when I go to Yuma Az to hunt at a Mexican place next to a rib shack off the freeway in the Carl's Jr shopping center.

I just picked up my '99 4x4 a few weeks ago.
Do you guys have any kind of regular "meets" or trail runs around here?

Corral canyon has some advanced trails that you may want to avoid. I would recommend some of the anza borrego trails first. Avoid the squeeze and drop off. I have been told boulder alley is no longer very difficult. Everywhere else I have been in absp is fine for first time with a 4r trail.

Not really, I tried planning runs but most people just like to talk about runs and not go on them.

We don't have regular monthly runs but yes we do go on runs at an a average of 1 every three months. We did our last run in October to Gorman with 15+ trucks and it was a blast! Sometimes runs that are suggested don't fall through but when they do it's a really good time. Keep an eye out in this section and if you ever want to organize a run feel free to post a new thread.

Gorman was a blast for sure. I agree with the three months!

Speaking of meet up... Nov/Dec run? Maybe somewhere with light snow?

I only know of two places that might have some light snow, big bear or gorman. Any other inputs?

Big Bear would be cool, I should be getting some sliders in the next couple weeks and that would be a good place to try them out.

An Anza Borrego run would be fun too.

I live in Riverside and stay a few times a week up in Arrowhead. Have an `86 Runner that is a crawler and a '98 Runner for DD/mild stuff.
