Just posting up to say hi and support a meetup soon. I use to organize a few meetups in SoCal on this forum under the username Expat. Anyways, would love to get something happening soon. Is Luxury still around?

Los Angeles- west side. Just spent 5 days north of the 58 and east of the 395- had no idea it would be -so- nice. Bird Spring, Borax trail, Fossil Canyon, Harper and Cuddeback lakes- etc. Remote, beautiful, barely any people- no powerlines (unlike Mojave Road as much as I loved that trip) Used Roger Mitchell's book "Southern Ca SUV Trails Vol.1"
The flowers and weather were great- a bit windy and even had a few drops of rain which I always love in the desert. Ordering BLM Surface Management maps for Borrego area, Mojave, Death Valley and more- $4ea but $2.40 each after 50 or more. Guide books and such I am learning very fast are NEVER to be trusted alone. The road names and places themselves change a lot and though it does keep it interesting in the end I need those BLM maps for sure.
My 2001 SR5 4x4 was awesome even with the worn out tires and 2 flats I got! Hah. Feels good to actually use and become more familiar with what can happen and the tools to get you through. First flat was literally in the middle of Cuddeback dry lake- was perfect. Bad was both flats were from gashes in the tires not punctures- prob bc the tires were so worn out. Plugs would bulge. Looking to get new treads on before next weekend. I'm ready to get back out there.
