Who uses Air Bags with Taller Than OEM Rear Springs?

Did you ever get any replies back from anyone? Tearing my suspension out next month would like to know what to do with my air bags.

They leak right now so if i have to replace them nows the time

lot of responses from several people, but most importantly the airbag manufacturers say they need measurements. My personal experience: my rear coils are too tall for my current airbags to work as I need them to. So, I am going to work with whomever helps me first to get the right size for my application next month when I start to tweak my current setup.

Will do! it is in the budget for next month. I just need to get the time to get everything done.

I cannot comment on the taller air bags, but I left one segment of the factory bump stop in place when I put in my 1.5" Daystar spacer and Firestone air bags... their regular 4Runner kit. 2 years later, no complaints, seems to work like it should! I posted a review on e-trailer, too. By observation, I think the Firestone kit is more designed to contact top & bottom coil seats, whereas the Air Lift bags more just balloon out to fill the voids in the coils. Not exactly what you are after, but hope it helps?

For the back, since I was installing a coil spacer that installs over the top of the stock bump stop, I left one segment of the factory bump stop in place, more or less the same height as the spacer. I cut it with a hand saw, then smoothed it out with a flap disc on my angle grinder… DON’T DO THAT!!! The high heat developed slung a tar-like mess of sticky fragments all over my work area… the back yard, in this case, which our dog proceeded to step in and track all around the house over the next several days. Doh!! WD-40 worked well to clean up the tacky remnants/surface, but didn’t find anything to help in the backyard rocks short of hand picking out the yuck as best I could and covering with a new layer of rock.

After talking with Firestone, this looks to be the route I'm going to go. I'm going to get their kit and new factory stops. I'll be replacing my AirLifts next month. This is actually what they recommended to do.

Well... I have been running without airbags since I went to the 329 rear springs. I still have the cut bump stops as well. :frusty:

SO... the plan as of right now is to look into the Airlift 1000 Universal Series of Airbags. Firestone does not have an airbag that matches my current height, but it looks like Airlift does...

i am going to do some measuring and testing over the next two weeks to see if I really want to go this route, OR if I just need to replace the bump stops and fix my loaded weight distribution. Since the initial conversation, we have added a larger fridge (LP66D SnoMaster), an Highland Expedition Outfitters T3.5 Custom Camp Trailer, AND a water system with 15 gallons of water. So, I have a ton of things to account for.

Any update? I’m about to change from the 1.5 spacer to a 1.5 coil and need airbags also.

Where in Texas are you? I saw you did a lot of the local off-road parks and national forest

I am located just outside of San Antonio. Most of our off-roading is out of state or in far West Texas. We do get up to Hidden Falls outside of Marble Falls a couple times a year.

As for the airbags - no update yet, but after this past weekend in West Texas with a fully loaded rig, we are definitely going to need some airbags or a diet.

Installed the F4108 kit and it's perfect so far. Bags are ~3" taller and seem to be the same diameter (I think they expand a bit over time). Here's a picture next to OME 895 coils.

We actually did the same airbags in our Dobinson's Springs, and they have been great. I kinda catalogued the journey in my Instagram Story and saved it as highlights...
