Who wants headers for the 4.7 2uz?

Well it looks like once again im going to be doing product development for another company. I just got off the phone with Dustin over at JBA Headers and we are currently working out a deal to get a trial set of T409 headers for the 05/06 Tundra (PN 2011) and then im going to take them and attempt to mount them. If i have to cut and weld or anything of that nature so be it. if/when I finally get them figured out, ill ship back what i have and have JBA coat them with their Titanium Ceramic coating.

From my discussions with JBA, the real problem is the distance between the engine craddle that toyota gives in the 4runner as compared with the tundra/sequoia.

They seem VERY interested to the fact that im doing alot of the work that they would normally do on a R&D side of thing and so im not going to promise anything but if I can make them work, who knows......

Interesting, JBA looked at my rig 2 years ago and said it was impossible due to the limited space between the heads and pre-cats, I talked with R&D and owner with the hood popped. I'd be interested in seeing this.

I had a conversation with them and they said the same thing but they said that they would give me a great deal on the trail set to at least try.

Hell if a BMW v10 has enough room to do headers..I swear a set can be done on the 4runner. Im in no way slamming JBA on this one but supersprint makes headers for just about every car on the damn market, and im sure some of those didnt have the largest clearance either. Well with me, the precats would be yanked...

I highly doubt itll fit. the locations of the cats differ greatly and the angle it wraps around the subframe is different.

I tried this back in 02 when I got my 4r by tracing the downpipe and comparing it to the tundra with no luck.

now that the tundra's have the 5a/t maybe it's the same? who knows but I still have my doubts. i believe jba is in sd right? if so i'm sure there are local members that do a swing by so you're not out of pocket. would suck to do that kind of r&d and be out of pocket.

im in Vegas and JBA is doing some seriously nice things for me to make this little venture work.

I know its a far shot but im willing to try anything. Hell, we wouldnt have gotten to the moon if someone hadnt been bold enought to try the first time.

I dont know what they will do honestly. At this point all I know is what JBA has said at this point. They didnt say anything about mass production at this point but i dont see why they couldnt just take measurements if I get them to work and mass produce them

Yea my friend added headers to his 2004 Tundra. We both crawled under my 03 4runner and shook our heads. But if you can make them fit then that is great.

I have JBA shorties on my mustang, and there's like zero room on that car, so I have to imagine that there'd be a way to make them work on the 4R.

JBA headers... I've yet to see a quality product come out of that company. I've seen more than my fair share, everyone one of them was junk.

I'll wait for Borla, Kooks, Supermaxx, Hooker...to come up with something.

I'm not taking anything away from you and the work you tried to accomplish. It's very cool they were willing to hook you up for R&D...It's just that in my experience they don't put out quality products.

2005 Pontiac GTO 6spd. The previous owner was nice enough to already put on a set of Flowmasters (sound great perform like crap) but since then I have ordered a Volant CAI (from Burtman), new Toyo T1R rubber, NGK Iridium IX plugs, stoptech SS brake lines, Axxis Ultimate Pads, new fluid. Im planning on a 160 degree thermo, software, new catback, some suspension work and a few other things. All that in 3 days of owning it..and on the first day I swore I wasnt going to mod it.

Looks like someone needs to use the Hydro-forming technology. They use 75K psi of water pressure when bending the pipe. The bend radiuses are much tighter with no restriction in flow.

Wow! Not a bad choice. I'm a fan of the GTO (Monaro). It's the 6.0L right?

yeah its the 6.0L LS2. Im a huge fan of the car and the engine even though its cam in block and not DOHC but thats generally good for torque which im a sucker for. Im still around here so dont think that you guys can get rid of me that fast.

I actually have videos to send to Schwalmy since he wanted to knwo about the Intake/Exhaust combined sounds.
