Why did Toyota go back to 5 lug?

It seems most Toyo trucks and suvs 09 and newer are back to 5 lug? Y the switch from 6?

just the tundra / sequoia changed -5 larger lugs vs 6 prob to handle higher gross veh weights
the 120 platform remains 6-lug

I believe 200 series cruisers are also 5 lug.

I think your confused about this. You must be comparing a 1992 Toyota pickup 2wd 5 lug setup to a 4WD 4Runner 6 lug setup to the new Tundra, LC100/200 5 lug setup.

The lugs on the new Tundra/LC are a way huger lug compared to the ones on our 4Runners. Matter of fact, the LC100 stud wont even pass through the hole on our wheels thats how thick they are. These vehicles got a heavier duty hub as well, compared to our 4Runners.
