Why do 4Runners come with factory rack and not leveled?

Why do 4 Runners come with the factory lower in front than rear suspenion? I was thinking of adding the Bilstein 5100, 3rd notch- 1.75 raise to front but then I looked at big picture. Why do they come lower in front from factory? Raising the front affect handling? make truck less stable at highway speeds?

I'm not positive, but I think it has to do with crash ratings. If you look at any of the body on frame SUVs and even trucks, the rear is always higher.

The rake, as it's called, has to do with aerodynamics and mpg as well as handling.

From what I understand everything that has already been mentioned and towing as well. I leveled mine Trail and my old 4th gen personally I can't stand the raked look.

It's done so that when you hook up a trailer the tounge weight doesn't make the rear sag below level, as stated before I think it also has to do with fuel efficiency.

If the truck were leveled, and you loaded it up with stuff, it would probably sag in the rear. I've got a 5th gen SR5 with a third seat. If I load it up with 7 people, it will sag in the rear.

Also, towing something large and heavy could make it sag in the rear.

Headlights probably would not be aimed properly. The handling would be worse (just guessing).

Agree with the last 2 posters plus the rear wheel drive will raise the front of the truck a bit too when you are driving it.
