Why I use Mobil1

My toyota work truck is still going and going and going...

I change oil every 15,000 miles and change the filter every 5k or 3 months and only use Mobil 1 and NAPA filters.

Other than a few water pumps,fan belts, spark plugs/wires and litteraly "tons" of tires nothing else has been done.

i dont know if its toyota or mobil 1 but one of the two must be doing something right !


I DONT KNOW OF ANYONE WHO HAS GOT MORE MILES ON THEIR ORIGINAL ENGINE AND TRANSMISSON THAN THIS ..

That is ridiculous! Do you know how many auto workers you've put out of work by keeping that truck running that long?? Hahaha...just kidding of course...thats awesome! I've never seen a vehicle with that many miles on it...you should take it to Toyota and have the mileage certified! Who knows....they might give you a new one!:trophy:
 
I'd like to see an independent test and one actually in an engine in real world driving. I've got 158k on my engine and I use M1 and change it every 8-9k miles or 1 year what ever comes first and my truck has zero leaks and burns about a half quart in that 8000 miles and I just had a compression test and all the cylinders were consistent and just a few psi below stock numbers which even impressed the Toyota tech who was working on my truck and that's why I choose Mobile 1 and it's readily available everywhere and you can get it in 5qt jugs for about $23. Royal Purple is good stuff but I haven't seen real proof it's worth the extra dough.

Could the fact that you live in Roswell, NM :vader: have anything to do with your truck's longevity???

dude thats ****ing crazy...
ive heard before if you mention it to toyota sometimes they will give you a BRAND NEW RECENT MODEL truck of your choice for a trade in like that.
just cause it proves that you are proven customer and of course to check out the truck on what they did to make it so good and replicate it :D

wouldnt hurt to ask. :D

When I was a kid I remember hearing that Toyota would give you a new truck if yours made it to 1,000,000 miles on the original engine/tranny, but I've never heard of anyone actually making it... until you echo4tango!
 
wow thats amazing. what year? 1980ish? i heard recently that if it gets to million miles , sometimes museums will buy them and pay you a good price.
 
yeah I am waiting for the 1mil mark to call toyota. That truck was passed down to me from my dad. He drove it as a company truck delivering parts to constrution sites. I used it for years taking small electirical parts to midland tx for repair . The truck averages 34k a year and is now my around the house work truck.

It has had 3 clutches and around 4 or 5 sets of brakes. I agree that royal purple is great oil but I dont know about extended drain intervals with it. I can run mobil 1 for a year and the oil is still honey colored on the dipstick

I dont use anything particular brand of oil over the other. I just pick the best oil for that particular job. I use amsoil gear lube for the diff and Mobil1 for trans and engine

On my 2001 toyota 4runner I started using Royal purple on every 2nd oil change to test it out. I have got another 5 months before i change it at the one year mark. The RP is noticeably darker on the dip stick but still has a nice sheen to it.

The RP guy i called says that the oil can go 10-15k before needing changed . He also said the oil has better cleaning properties in it than most other oils so the dark black color that i am seeing is the oil picking up what the other oil has left behind. I dont know i guess we will see how it looks at the 1year mark.
 
Shell Rotella will do the same, Atleast in the jetta it will, thats cool i hope you hit 1 million, im shooting for a half million in the Jetta tdi, right now were at 237,XXX miles, motor feels brand new.

Don't sell it, just keep going on it once it hits a million, it's meant to be used.

Didnt I just see something about a 2 million mile car? I swear I just read about some car making it 2 million miles on orig engine,

and yeah, the dealer gave them a brand new one, it wasnt Toyota though.


How would they certify that? especially with odometers that turn over to 000000 after 1 mil??

Insurance would certify it as you have to submit the miles after 6months or a year.

i think it was a volvo too.
 
Wow that is so cool ! Keep going until you hit a million and then post that odometer pic !
With all of the bad publicity Toyota has had lately they should use your truck in an ad :bigok:
