Why is the 4cyl the best looking 2010 ?

I was out on the Toyota Configurator and was suprised at the first image that autoloaded. It looked great! It was the 4cyl. No overdone body kit that the V6 SR5s and Limited have, No ugly black bumpers, doorhandles, and mirrors that the Trail has. This is how they all should look!

:iagree: with the above thats why im never gonna sell my 2000 especially since its the last year of a manuel 4runner. I wish they would just take the 6spd out of the Tacoma and put it into the new 4runner

Wow! So far I'm not a huge fan of the 2010, but the 4cyl version looks best to me - at least in pictures. Very nice.

If they offered a 4WD version I think it would sell better than we think. Is there any performance upgrades for this engine? If TRD made a blower for it, would they come...?


I wonder what the logic was behind the lower apron and skirts on the SR5 and Limited, since there is a bias here at least that favours the look of the Trail, and at least one member that is switching out Trail bumpers on a Limited.

Nice find. I agree with the others. Isn't it amazing how subtle differences make or break the look. You could probably pull this off on a TE by painting the bumper accents & mirrors and replacing the door handles. What was Toyota thinking saving the best look for the base version? Are they blind?

Now that I see all the models together in one page. I think the Limited should be under our "Pimp Zone" section. With the big semi-ugly wheels, it certainly doesn't look very 4Runnerish to me.

That execution looks really good, I like the running boards too. Just want a torsen center diff 4WD and thats the first one that I could really see myself in. I have been naysayer on the 5th gen until now, but, as said above, its interesting how small changes can make or break the look. All individual taste I guess.

Toyota.ca still shows 09s only?

Anyone ever bought a new car in Canada an imported to the US? What are the admin complexities?, import duties?, do you get the sales tax back there?, because I assume you have to pay it here on registration.

So all Canada SR5's get the better looking 'trail' styled bumpers.....Canada launch of the 4Runner is delayed. U.S. Trails, which have the better looking 'trail' bumpers, are in very short supply. Coincidence or not? Has Toyota already realized the obvious...that they messed up, and is starting to fix the blunder, starting with Canada? Will the U.S. SR5's be changed in a few months too? I hope so.

i wonder. it seems contradictory to me that the "back to its roots" 4runner got even heavier and more "bulged out" with useless cladding than ever before. imo the "Trail style" bumpers improve the new design's looks A LOT.

I tend to agree the 4cyl has the best contrast of the bunch.

To me the 4cyl and the trail Addition should be flip flopped. The trail addition looks more basic then the base model does. Also the Limited looks a bit to goddy to me. Especially the wheels like they are trying to attract the crowd that puts 22" wheels with ultra low profile performance tires on their SUV.

Probably because most people would not pick the 4-cyl for a 1mpg improvement, so it has to have something else going for it.

If I were to get a 5th gen, I'd pick the Limited because of the FT 4WD system and the creature features, but I hate the cheezy Cadillac Escalade bling that it has. The SR5 and TE looks much better, but I don't like the PT 4WD system on those. I guess Toyota's back to the roots design doesn't make on trim particular standout over the next as the "better" choice for me. BTW, I hate it when they do that. I prefer they build a top of a line model with everything the lower trims have but the kitchen sink.
