I believe the spoiler is a dealer or port add-on option, so some 4runners didn't get the spoilers. There are 2 types of spoilers, the hump spoiler and the non hump spoiler. I believed they switched from hump to non-hump (or vice versa) in 05 or with the facelift in 06.

The hump spoiler supposedly directs air over the back window to keep dust from building up and/or push rain off quicker and it works decently well. My rear wiper broke off long ago and the rear window always stays decently clean, so the hump most likely does work. I see Burtman has the hump one, but other than them, I think its hard to find 3rd parts hump spoilers.

The non-hump spoiler looks sleeker and can be found pre-painted on ebay for $100-$150 USD like this one: Factory Style Rear Roof Mount Painted Rear Spoiler Fits 2003-2009 Toyota 4Runner. Not sure on pricing or shipping to Costa Rica, but the option is out there to add one in. You'd need to extend wiring for the 3rd brake light and drill a few holes. I think I saw a post maybe 2 weeks ago in the What did you do with your 4runner today? thread with some pictures
