Why OEM Plugs & Wires ?

My 97' stops running at stop lights for no apparent reason.I brought it to my dealer and they told me they have seen this happen when customers use Non-OEM Plugs & Wires of which I did.Autolite's Best Wires & Bosch Platinum 2 Plugs.
Anyone ever hear of this? I've been doing this for over 40 years and had no problems till now?

Sounds like the dealer is BS'ing. How long did you have the non-oem plugs in wires installed before you started having issues? If you had then installed lets say a few thousand miles ago try having the dealer explain why for the first few thousand miles the non-oem parts gave you no hassle.

I agree...There's no reason why Good aftermarket equipment won't do the job as long as it meet Toyota's Specs.
I know I got screwed buy they wouldn't diagnose my problems without changing them.Just another way to Jack one around.
$80.00 Bucks for 3 Wires and the Plugs were $7.00 a piece.
They found the problem however, 6 Mos ago when my local shop changed my timing belt they forgot to tighten up the crank pulley bolt.So it backed off the crank and wollowed out the keyway.Didn't ruin the crank as we caught it in time.As the pully moved back and forth it set a 300,302,& 305 code which is plug mis-fire.So the computer would shut it down at idle condition.We put on a new pulley and it runs great.No more killing.Nothing to do with using their OEM Parts.I had the Bosch Plugs in for years with not even a hicup.
