I would not sweat it, my 4Runner has no more maintenance then most of the other vehicles out their but the retorqueing of the drive shaft bolts are on all the Toy/Lex trucks, their are 4Runners going 30k, 60k and even more with never having the bolts retorqued.
Just speak with guys who own 4Runners and see what they do, their not doing what you think.
I always thought everything the dealer/manurfacture said and listed needed to be done at said intervals, well if anyone knew the maintenance of a german car, it was always costly but now look at what BMW recommends for their cars since their paying the bills, suddenly oil changes went from 3k to 10k, makes you think.
The thing you have to fiqure out which is not hard is separating which services are needed and which ones the dealers add in to increase their profit margin and are just really worth nothin, many of the items the dealers service are visual inspection, you also have to be able to mentally block out the service writers who insist if you don't change your oil every 3k the engine will blow up.
When I owned my Nissan, the owner of the dealer insisted that each service writer sell $100,000 in non-warranty service items each month, that place went through so many good service writers who thought it was just BS to be talking customers into work they did not need but now their are 2 real jack asses that have been their for awhile, just 1 reason why I did not get another car from them.
Actually ran into the same problem with my 1st Toyota dealer but after finding a new dealer that only sells you servicing you need and does not push things on you they are not needed, the Lexus dealer is crazy with their servicing, but it's all a matter of know what the car needs and not what they want to sell you.
