Why such limited colors?????

Why does Toyota not offer more colors for the 4runner???? You can buy a Tundra or Tacoma in Cavalry Blue, Quicksand and Inferno, why not the 4runner? They could still offer a special color for the TRD Pro and give us access to those other great colors. I would have loved an inferno Off road premium. Why are we stuck with Black, White and Grey with just Nautical Blue and Barcelona Red?

If they do it the way that some companies do they'll offer a few extra colors or options on the last year of the 5th Gen to get some people to buy when they know a 6th Gen is around the corner. But really they could do such cool colors Imagine how nice a flat, army green would look.

They offer Cement as well for the Tacoma. All the great TRD Pro colors trickle down to the other models but not the 4runner???

There are 6 standard colors, and 1 specialty color. That seems to be in line with competitors. If I had to guess, id say more than half of people get white or black. No real need for 15 colors.

They sell almost 50% more Tacomas than they do 4runners. It's easier to justify more colors when you sell more.

There were 11 different exterior colors offered between 2010 and 2015 (depending on trim level of 4Runner).

Fewer exterior color options means less of those Toyota touch-up paint kits the dealerships have to stock.

I think it has more to do with the 4Runner being one of the few models sold in the US that is still made in Japan. The Tacoma and Tundra are made here.

Japan is a very small island with very little flat land. Toyota's paint shop must be very small.

It is certainly cheaper to limit the colors......and some models are done as a single production run for the year and then the line is switched to the next model. Some lines can do multiple models at once. Don't know how the 4Runner line is set-up or if any other models are made on it. I am glad it is built in Japan.....not sure I would buy it if it was made in Mexico or Canada.

One of the car magazines a while back talked about different colors. White, black and silver/gray are considered "safe colors". A dealer can place a stock order and have a good chance of selling them. Red, blue, green etc. are colors you either love or hate and may set on a dealers lot longer costing them money.
