Why Toyota of Alvin (Texas) SUCKS!!!!!

Yes, this is a rant. Back on October 8, I went in for my "Cracked dashboard" inspection. They looked it over; told me it would be 3 to 6 weeks to get the part in and sent me on my way. Last week (Oct 29), Toyota of Alvin's service dept. calls me to tell me my dash is in to which I made an appointment to bring it in this morning. Last night, I spent 3 hours removing my stereo, GPS module/antenna, blue tooth adapter, backup camera cable and misc. USB port wires/cables, etc., and being the nice guy that I am, I left the center console, fascia/dash plate, HVAC control unit out, to save those AHOLE's time and effort. Went over to the dealer at 7AM this morning and dropped it off.

On the way back home in my wife's car, I get a call from Toyota of Alvin telling me that they have "NO RECORD" of receiving the dash, nor do they have "any record" of anyone calling me to make an appointment to have the dash part installed. WHAT!?!??!?! The guy actually had the balls to tell me that maybe I was confusing them with another dealership, even though they are the only one's that I took my Runner to! I did an immediate 180 and hauled ass back to Alvin. I stormed into the service department, right up the the ahole that I had handed my keys to 20 minutes prior. I showed him my phone which clearly showed me receiving a call from their service department phone# on 10/29. He said that without a name, they cannot do anything and questioned me about whether or not I made the mistake. Oh, and then he said that they JUST ORDERED THE PART LAST WEDNESDAY (10/28)!!!! He said he will call me when the part comes in.

I then immediately went to Mac Haik Toyota and let the do the inspection and order the part. I know it will take longer, but I do not care. I'm just pissed that I tore out my stereo and misc. accessories for a bogus appointment and now have to put it all back in, only to have to do it all over again in six weeks. I suspect those aholes installed MY dash in someone else's Runner by mistake. Regardless, when the part comes in and Alvin calls me, I am going to tell them I'll be over the following day, and then not show. When they call me to find out why I didn't show, I'm going to tell them that I have no record of ever receiving their call.

Yes, I'm pissed right now. I'm not one prone to violence, but when that guy looked me in the eye and tried to make me think that I was the one who was mistaken, I wanted to punch him in the throat.

I feel for you. I'm seeing more and more complaints about Toyota reps being utter dip shits these days. It's come to the point where you literally have to write down every name of any person you spoke to, time and date and take several pictures to back up your claims.

Realistically, even if I had the name of the rep, or even a recording of the phone call, would it have made a damned bit of difference? No. The part would still not be there, my labor would still have been wasted and odds are, the employee would not have been reprimanded. Sure, I probably could have confronted the jackass who called me with the bogus info, but that probably would have only led to violence on my part. Oh well, all I can do at this point is spread the word.

Some dealerships need serious training in how to operate a telephone. Whenever I have no other option for getting parts, I reluctantly order them from the dealer and they always say they'll call me when the part arrives. They never ever ever ever call. Never. And every time I follow up they say 'it just arrived'.

Don't forget to insist they must have made a mistake!

Sorry to hear about your troubles, but happy to have the information! Not that I'd be likely to use them, but they are within an hour or so from me.

Not that it applies everywhere, but these dealership crap is why i will try my darnest to avoid Toyota and Honda cars...i rather spend more to get their luxury brand...at least, with luxury dealers, they smile while screwing you....

As much as i love to own a 4runner in the future, i think that we will get Lexus GX instead.

Sucks that there are people (not just at dealerships) that simply will not own up to making a mistake and take responsibility.

I think you should have tried to convince them to give you a 5th gen until your part came in and the repairs were completed.

i bought my 4runner from them last year never been to their service department. I have also bought my 2011 tacoma but back then it was Ron Carter Toyota. customer service was better back then. Toyota of Alvin keep calling me about my free oil changes but i think i'm going to pass on it. wish you better luck with them maan.

Hey Samsung - maybe next time you get an unsolicited call from their service department, tell them 'No, I don't think I will visit you guys. Your service quality and honesty is beinfpg flamed on the blogs."

Rants serve a purpose if the target becomes aware. Otherwise it's just a blood pressure relief valve...

You should give them a review and just copy and paste all of this. id like to see what kind of a response they will give you if any at all haha. I went to a local dealership as well and i didnt care for how i was treated and how their overall process went. ended up staying almost an hour over the 2 hours i was told because they guy needed to go and talk to the mechanic. I dont know what was taking him so long given there were no cars and he was just standing around. They gave me a terrible first impression. But the guy that did my washer fluid was a t4r fanatic and cool but other than that it sucked

Ha....Joke is on you... This is the last years of the GX, better act fast. Lol.

Kidding aside, when we take our Lexuses in to the dealer, it is ALWAYS a good experience. Well, until the cashier.

@Samsumg.

Yes, when it was RON CARTER TOYOTA, I never had a problem. In fact that is why I went over there in the first place. Ron Carter was always a good experience. But now, under new ownership... utter crap.
