Why Trail Edition Does not have Spoke Alloy Wheels

Why 5th gen T4R has spoke alloy wheels only for SR5 and LMTD. The TE does not have spoke wheels, only alloy wheels.
Are non-spoke alloy wheels better for off-road? Or just for cost reason?

Probably just to make them look different than the SR5 & Ltd.

In theory, the Trail’s rims with rounded cutouts would be less subject to metal fatigue than those on the SR5 & Ltd. However, with modern materials, manufacturing and engineering, I doubt it makes much difference.

Simply a more rugged look. Nothing any stronger or weaker about them. Personally, I like them a lot, but I wish they were black to go with the black out trim of my Salsa Red TE.

If you unfortunatly catch a rim against a rock the less (thin) spoked rim would less likely grab and be further damaged so that could be a possible reason for the type of wheel on the TE. I've seen fancy rims with thin spokes grab a rock and the spoke bent. Just a thought.

Cool, now I kind like those TE rims. Before I always thought that spoke rims looks better and more expensive.
I am waiting for my ordered TE since Feb.

The Trail wheels are of a design that cleans easily of the mud ,sand and other debris one gathers slogging off-road.....something to keep in mind when looking over wheel designs....an easy way to tell the pretenders from the contenders.

The other thing is that round holes, like they're laid out on TE wheels, work better to hook in recovery gear like this

what kind of paint did you use.

I think its just rustoleum or kyrlon matte black paint with a krylon flat clear. Held up really nice.
