Widget Like Icon on your iPhone

Hey all,

Not sure if you guys know this, but this is a great site to visit on your iPhone: http://brdrck.me/settings/

Remember, visit the site on your iPhone. This is safe and Apple-certified. This allows you to install "shortcuts" or "widget-like" (if you're a former Android user) on your iPhone. For example, this will install a Bluetooth icon on your iPhone so that you can go directly to that part of the Settings instead of having to click thru the Setting menu. Very useful. And FREE!!!!

Hope this is helpful. (Note: i have no association with that website.)

BTW, this only works on iPhone with iOS 5.0 or greater.

Thanks for the heads-up... I have a kind of related question for you (I hope I am not derailing this thread or info.), how in the heck do I (Untethered) jailbreak my IP4? I am still running 4.3.4 cause I haven't wanted to upload the latest version, which keeps popping up on my laptop.
PS: I can take this Q. to PM's if you want me to as well..
Thanks...

Steps to install the above shortcuts/widgets:

1. Go to that website/link
2. Click on shortcut/icons that you want to install on your iPhone (iOS 5.0 or later)
3. Select which icon you want (if avail in different icons)
4. Click "Install xxxxx shortcut"
5. "Install Profile" pops up on your iPhone
6. Click "Install"
7. Click "Install Now" on the pop up window
8. Enter your passcode
9. Click "Done" at the top right corner
10. Close the window or exit via pressing Home Button
11. Check your homescreen...that icon should be there

That's it.

Hey, I jailbroke my IP4 with 5.0.1 using redsnow. If you need help, feel free to PM me.

You will also need to install iOS 5.0.1 and the package Corona to get untethered. Hurry up and update to 5.0.1 though, 5.1 is about to be released. You can also PM me if you have any additional questions.

I think you only need corona if you previously did a tethered jailbreak. I just used redsnow and it works well except for ibooks.

Never really tried that. Gives me something to do at the university library tonight!! I rarely see people with jailbroken iDevices, however I'd say over 60% that I do see, have no idea what they're doing and do it because they want different color text message bubbles or something miniscule.

While this is true, any competent jailbreaker will change the root password from "alpine" to something else. It's a simple unix command, and there are also tools. There's also an FAQ in CYDIA that tells you how to change it. I just disable SSH when I don't need it via the sbsettings toggle.

I JB mine mainly for functionality changes. For example, I like "AskToSend" because if I text in a hurry, it will prompt me with an "are you sure?" type message. (I used to hit the stupid send key by accident constantly) I also like tweaks such as sbsettings, because I can access all of my main toggles quickly. I agree, if you don't know what you're doing, you can leave your phone potentially exposed. As anything else, keeping the device current and changing default passwords (especially "root" and "mobile" on the phone) are key.

Just in case you don't know, Mark, there's a newer version of redsnow out now that will fix the ibooks issue. Just run the latest redsnow over your existing jailbreak, and uncheck "install cydia". Also, the new version of ibooks (2.0) appears to be working fine after I updated it. Just FYI.

Just installed the latest redsnow and it fixed ibooks. now I support it 100% :D Waiting impatiently for the A5 jb to get released.
