Wildest Place

All this volcano action has gotten me trippin and thinking about where I plan to go to get really remote. I know many of you have rigs set up for real pure travel.

Crossing the Yukon in November for me was great and there is road into the Chugach National Forest I have got my eye on comes out of Eagle River AK

Where have you guys and gals been or plan to go. Tell your story....wild is pure...............:biggrin2: :bigok:

Well you've set the bar a little high here, darn Alaskans j/k. Living in New England my whole life northern Maine is about the most remote place I've ever travelled to. For the East coast its very remote, but compared to AK or Canada I may as well have been in the suburbs.

I work with a woman from Maine. she says some of woods and coastline compare with some of Alaska..........she likes Maine more.

Well that's pretty cool. It is definitely remote up there, but you can pretty much get everywhere via a road, perhaps a gravel logging road, but a road still. 20 years ago there were still places you needed a float plane to get to, not so much anymore. I would love to get to AK someday, it must be incredible up there.

I know that the wild places take some work even up here .......what I enjoy (so far) is that rangers will advise you and leave you alone. If you do come, I think Haines to Tok is one heck of a drive......single road through the yukon. brochure perfect for the 4Runner.
