Lord... will there be a V8 on the new 2016? It don't have to have a super charged V8 or have a KDSS. And please Lord, don't let them make anymore TRD Pros. PLEASE!!!! It's an embarrassment.

Considering how fast they sold out, I would say another batch for the 6th Gens is all but certain. As for the V8, I've been told by a few engineers that it's not going to happen; they're more likely to go to forced induction than a V8.

please have a turbo diesel that is good for 250hp and 400 ft-lbs of torque. A 6 spd auto would be great too! and Make the truck 700 lbs lighter.

Not unless Toyota's dealings with Cummins bear any fruit, they already said they aren't interested in the extensive cost required to convert their existing diesel fleet to meet US emissions regulations.

why can't emissions/govt bodies realize that diesels are a way better option than hybrids? Sigh...

I guess it will have to be, subtract 700 lbs, direct injection + intake injection to prevent build up, cylinder deactivation, 6 speed auto.

Oh and LED or HID standard + 20" wheels that are wider than 7" would be awesome.

This question does bring up a question I have been pondering:
We know that one day we will get to self driving cars right? In my mind with all the safety gadgets that are currently on affordable vehicles (wife's CRV Touring has blind spot, back up stop, lane change warning, adaptive cruise and the don't hit people in the ass button) this is just a transition phase from current vehicles to self driving vehicles. My question is "Will manufacturers continue to offer, for lack of a better term, "driver's car" in the future? One that actually will let you control everything? Personally I think they will. It might be specific types like high performance, off road oriented or work vehicles but I think even going eventually driverless a "manual" type vehicle will be offered. Thoughts?

Definitely. You'd need to, even for something as simple as driving onto a construction site - not to mention oilfield and logging roads. I think trucks will always have a "manual" option. And from what I've read, the general consensus among insurance companies is that the driver will be ultimately responsible for what a self driving vehicle does.

That being said, I do think we will likely see specialized vehicles that have no "manual" option - like those little phonebooth-looking concepts that come out from time to time - that will be networked together and used only in large cities. Maybe even going as far as being mandated as the only thing to drive in the city - ie, you park your antiquated manual vehicle on the outskirts and hop into a little shoebox that you rent for city excursions.

Of course, driverless cars will be completely out the window as soon as the snow fies up here.

Toyota is always 20 years late to the party on comfort and driver tech. Take a look at Subaru's eyesight system for example. OTOH they are the only company that's solved the direct injection intake valve carbon build up conundrum with D4S. And so far no one else has even really come up with a viable stop gap. So on the mechanical side they're doing pretty well.

But I don't think we'll see any changes at all for 2016 other than one or two new color options for the TRD Pro.

I'd just shut that BS off anyway. My 4R has nice big side-view mirrors, adjusted properly, I have no blind spot.

A major reason I drive what I do is outward visibility and road presence. Wife has a new Accord coupe - I hate driving that thing.

As a longtime member, I'm quite surprised you haven't seen the 67809808 posts regarding "next years model" This pertains to any generation 4Runner. Nobody knows. Period. Everything is speculation. Jeeze some of you take this "what's in the next 4runner, my life depends on it" waaaaaaaay to seriously. I side with Philsey and many others I'm sure agree as well. Having that said, it's fun to speculate, but that get taken away when it is taken too seriously.

Summation: Who cares. Speculation is just that, anyone's guess. We'll see what comes out in next years model or generation and when it does, we (most) we love it. 4Runners were NEVER known to have the latest and greatest, why would that change?

Anyway, I look forward in the V8 diesel hybrid they plan on stuffing in the 6th gen 4runner!!!!!

I think it'll be a long time until the US population is willing to give up that much vehicular autonomy.

Many people already drive like it is the least important task in their busy commute schedule of putting on makeup, adjusting the radio, talking on phones, texting on phones, selfies on phones, games on phones, and so on.

Human nature will remain the constant so manually control will always be with us along with the additional automatic options as mentioned. Remember, even the 4R has assisted brakes which take over in panic stopping. I've needed to use it and while freaky it works and I was glad to have it.

Man you're a nightmare , Nothing will be released to the public "YOU" until the normal Toyota press release in a few months. a dealer could place your order for a 2016 4runner (without BSM) right now. That's what Dealer ordering begins June 1 means,they don't want the dumb public like yourself bothering them yet. Wait till the press release ,then place your order then wait three months,Or my guess is you'll order nothing and buy nothing.
