Will 285/75/16 fit?

I have a 06 sr5.. im installing OME Springs and shocks front and rears.. 1.5 " wheel spacers.. and a 1" body lift.. will i be able to fit BFG All-Terrain T/A KO 285/75/16's??

And will i be able to stick with the stock rim?if not what the biggest tire i get on factory rims??

You may need to do some searching here and over at toyota120. When putting a 33" tire on, the uca's often rub the tire the spacers may help, but most owners take them out and get new 8" wide wheels. Having a 1.5" spacer may cause rubbing on the fender side. It may be a good idea to change the uca's and skip or use smaller spacers. Wheelers offers a deal when buying coilovers and uca's as a package. Camburg and Chaos are reasonably priced, Donahoe'$ are expensive, but clearly superior.

As for the wheels, check bfg's website to see if your wheel width is within the acceptable range.

Alex Jet has built his truck up from stock with 265-70's to the monster it is today. He may have some more input.
 
33" with a 2/1 will rub. I believe the op will have less due2 having added a body lift. However the spacers push the wheels out, increasing the outer swing radius, which can cause rubbing on the outer edge of the tire at lock. There are many variables, as you will see,
here , many owners get a little rubbing here and there and make changes to eliminate it.
 
it'll fit and the rubbing will be very minimal since you'll be using a/t tires. 285's on stock will work but i would highly recommend that you get 16x8's (0 offset, 4.5 backspacing).

you may rub on the uca (upper control arms) but that will be very minimal with a/t tires. you may encounter some rubbing on the front body mount under the firewall behind the front tires but I believe that will be very minimal too.

You won't need wheel spacers btw with the setup / tire configuration you want. if you get the wheel spacers you'll push the tires out more which will definitely rub on the body mount (I believe.. dunno as I never tried this configuration).

btw i've seen quite a few 285's with A/T w/o the BL and only experience minimal rubbing so I would highly recommend you just get the OME's first and then decide later whether you need the BL and/or the wheel spacers.

I have a Revtek 3" lift on my 4R, and I also have Nitto Terra Grapplers, which are a/t tires, in 285x75x16. They rub, unless you're willing do some trimming. At least the Nittos rubbed. I did some simple trimming on both sides, and the rubbing was eliminated. I don't know how the BFGs would fit though. I put 1.25" Spidertrax spacers on (which are now sold, because I'm selling my 4R), and they actually made the rub come back in a worse way! That, along with my selling the vehicle was a big reason I took them off.

Is that minor rubbing under full compression off road? Or is that minimal rubbing while at full wheel lock? Do you have any more information?
 
a lot of that depends heavily on the tire and wheel combination as not all wheels and tires are the same size even though they claim the 285/75/16.

I'm certain you'll experiencing rubbing when you compress them as well as during full lock (minimal) but again that will all depending on the configuration.
 
So in your opinion GoodTimes would I be better suited to keep my stock wheels and run say a BFG Mud-Terrain 265/75/16 getting full articulation as opposed to running a 285 BFG AT and rubbing at full wheel lock and under compression? I am do about 60% on road and 40 % off road. My offroading includes driving mountain passes in CO and using my 4Runner for hunting.

with a/t tires the rubbing is minimal where it's not going to kill your 4runner or the tires. therefore I'd say if you don't mind the slight decrease in mpg and an increase in fill the tire well then I'd say go for the 285's. Once you go 285's you'll definitely be happy with it on there. Plus you do more offroading than the average joe so I think you'll benefit from the 285's even w/ the slight rubbage.

fyi, 285's on MTR's will be murder w/o trimming. (something to consider if you ever plan to go M/T's).
 
one more quick question, I searched around and could not find a number, so how much height will I gain by upsizing to a 285/75/16 from a 265/75/16? The answer is probably out there, but I couldn't find it.

murder where? Is this after one removes inner well lining, and some body colored bumper? :biggrin2: I DONT WANT ANY RUBBING, is that possible with MT/Rs....

MT'R with 265's will have NO rubbing (i think).

285's with MT'R... well that's gonna rub quite a bit. No way around it as our wheelwells are just not built to handle that large of a tire.
 
So would you guys think 285's would be OK with a coilover and UCA with a 17x8 rim w/ 4.5 bs ??

Maybe some trimming you mentioned?
