Will 8.5" width rims work without rubbing?

So I'm pretty new to understanding tire sizes / wheel sizes, etc. I've tried to read some info listed on the sticky page, but I'm having trouble figure out how it all works if I'm swapping out the wheels.

I'm looking at trying to purchase these wheels as I really don't like the SR5 wheels on my 2016. I really like the Trail rims but they are twice the cost.

So I'm wondering, can anyone tell me if I run those rims (which are 8.5" wide vs the 7" SR5 rims) with 275/70/17 wheels, are they likely to rub?

I'd love to understand all of this better, but I'm not sure how to factor in wheel width compared to tire width and figuring out if there will be rubbing.

Could anyone help me with this?

Hey John, welcome to the forum! My first advise is stay away from this forum lol unless you like spending money

Secondly, depending on the offset of the wheel, you might be OK. For example, FN makes a few wheels that are 8.5 and they are made with our Toyota in mind, so it fits well.

Check out this website and play around with the tool Custom rims, wheel tire packages for your ride - RIMSnTIRES.com This really helped me when I was new like yourself and couldn't wrap my head around wheel/tire fitment.

I run 9" fuel rims with 285/75/17's and no rubbing. However I do have my body mount chopped and I trimmed my fenders a bit, mainly reformed with a heat gun. Even pre bumper there was no issue at full compression and full turn. I believe that offset has a lot to do with it.
 
I have 17x9 with stock back spacing and 275/70/17 KO2s and I do have slight rubbing at full lock. Otherwise it's good to go. Nothing the fend well mod wouldn't fix if I weren't lifting it this weekend.
 
Just got 17x8 -10 installed on factory sized KO2's with the front end lifted 1.75'' and I rub in reverse, L or R. I rub not on the liner but the very inside lower part of the bumper.

Does anyone know what the stock SR5 rim's backspace and offset is? I found someone listing the size for a trail's 7.5" rim, but the SR5 I believe is 7" not 7.5"
 
So if I add 1" to the 7" SR5 rims = 8" and divide by 2 = 4" center line. Then I take the 4.5" backspace - the 4" center line = .5 multiplied by 25.4 = +12.7 mm offset.

Did I do that correctly?

Can anyone tell me if I did the calculation for the stock SR5 rim's offset correctly? I'm trying to use a website that asks for the stock offset and I'm not sure if I calculated it right. If anyone who knows this stuff could confirm it would be appreciated!

No. You are assuming the new wheel has the same backspace as the OEM wheel right? You need the backspace of the 8" wheel. They are all not the same. Here's a link and a chart. https://www.rsracing.com/TechWheel.aspx

No, I'm not assuming the new wheel's backspace is the same as the original. I was trying to use the link [MENTION=75328]DannyLlama[/MENTION] sent me which asks for the original wheel offset in order to know if the new wheel / tire size / offset would work.

edit: I see the chart you sent me calculates all of that. Thanks!
