Will 99-02 headlights fit a 97?

Hey everyone I have a 97 White 4runner. The other day a kid hit my truck with a golf ball and busted my headlight. Now I am looking for new ones. So my question is Will a 99-02 Headlight assy fit my 97 truck. Thanks for your help. Are HID Hard to install?

I checked into it for my 98 and yes they fit . Think our trucks are the same .

Do the newer headlights ('99-'02) offer any benefits?

im pretty sure the newer ones actually are clearer than the older ones. so i would guess better light output?

Thanks for the reply. I notice the 99-02 is a clearer lens then the 96-98

yep, the '99 and up ones have better optics.

And yes these newer headlights also fit earlier 3rd gens.

as far as the HID's i threw a set in mine tonight, the light output, is far less than ideal right now, but i'm going to play w/ it a bit this weekend, and will try and post some pics. Of course the best thing to do would be to retrofit a projector into the stock 4runner housing, but thats a bit more expensive.
