Will an Addicted Offroad rear bumper bolt right onto my 1996 3rd gen?

I thought I read somewhere early 3rd gens might need 2 holes drilled... but not sure why, or if that meant early-VIN '96s only... or even something.

Any advice?

Not sure about 1996, but you could easily check yourself. The part of the bumper that mounts to your frame has two OEM bolts coming in from the bottom that originally held in two tow points, and then two big bolts and nuts that come with the bumper that are supposed to go through two holes in the front of the frame that did NOT fit my 2000 ltd runner, it pretty much has to be welded on for me. Regardless, cutting IS required on the front of the frame, so it's not really a "bolt-on".

You must cut and grind front supports for bumper cross member to fit. Then step up drill bit needed to up size the original mounting bolt holes.

I though this was only necessary on newer 3rd gen ? Although mine, not addicted Offroad bumper. But savage, I did not have to cut anything of or modify. It simply bolted up. But Roy states that 99+ you must cut and modify.

Well I'm a 96 and have an AOR bumper so I know what's needed.

Scotty makes his mounting a lot more stout for strength and towing. Grinding cutting and drilling needed on all his bumper installs. Same when I installed one on a 4th gen.

The product description straight from his website says it's bolt on.

All these other yahoos are talking about the front bumper. :wink2: My guess is that the AOR rear bumper is a direct bolt on as stated on his website.

THIS. I have this exact bumper on my '97, it was direct bolt, no cutting. But don't take my word for it! Smart move would be to call Scotty to confirm

Mine bolted on, but while one side is spaced perfectly from the body the other side is touching the body. Once I get my 4Runner mobile again I'll have to check with Scotty. It can only slide over the frame rails one way, so I'm not sure there is any way for me to adjust it.
