Will I be alright towing this?

Probably moving out to harrisburg in two weeks, if I load this thing up with all my possessions (not much, a bedroom and a kitchen table and some odds and ends) say it weighs in around 3000 pounds, can i haul it?

Forgive me for being a stalker and google mapping where you're moving to/from, but with the tandem axle and it only being ~100 miles of freeway driving, I don't think you should have ANY problems.

Like the previous poster said though, U-Haul, should be able to help you out. I know I have seen 4Runners from Canada hauling travel trailers, with single axles, through my hood at ~70mph, haha.

I'll probably be in a similar boat as you in the next few months. Except I'll be moving from TX to Seattle so around 2000 miles. Little more of a haul. I planned on using this same trailer

I hauled a 20hp farm tractor with a bush hog mower hooked to the tractor! The trailer was heavy duty trailer with tandem axles. The only probs i had was stopping it!

I towed a U-haul trailer that was the next size down from that one with no problems. Also, the brake-light hookup on your 4Runner is the correct fit with U-haul (which is a bonus bc my buddy had to buy an adapter from U-haul for his Durango). The tow rating of the 4Runner is 5000 lbs.

I think if you go through the reservation process on the U-haul website, you enter your vehicle and it will show you the trailers you can rent. Also, you don't need to enter any payment information to reserve a trailer so go ahead and go through the process.

When you go up hills turn off the overdrive, that will keep the trans cool. And change your trans fluid when you get to your destination. Make sure the coolant is in good shape and watch the temp gauge. Then all you have to worry about is stopping.

Yup, as stated- 5000lbs max capacity and U-haul is SUPER STRICT about this. I did the exact thing your doing a while back and let's just say I got HORRIBLE gas mileage and going up hills on the highway was not an enjoyable experience. If it's all you've got access to, do it but if you can get a truck or bigger SUV do so. I hate towing with my 4-runner because I'm used to towing with big trucks and big suv's so the 4-runner tows like crap compared to others... Just my 2cents, I'm sure some will disagree but it's a 4-runner, not an f-250 turbo diesel. :wink2:

You cant fit it all in the truck? i fit a queen mattress and boxspring on the roof, and ive fit tables in the truck upside down, heck ive gotten a pallet in the back of my truck.

I don't have any pics but I was able to get 7 pallets in the back of mine!

Josh: the only problem you will have is getting it stopped so plan ahead for stopping.

Leave a lot of space between you and the traffic out front. I just did two trips hauling 1 ton of landscaping rock about 25 mi through the city then highway. I never went over 50mph. The 3.4 did a lot better than I thought it would and breaking was OK. As stated b4, it's not meant for towing like a F-250 or 2500. Good luck

I towed this trailer when I moved in the rain. I took it slow and it did fine even with a 4 cyl. I wouldn't want to tow a 5000 lbs rig with this truck. If the trailer weighs more than the car you are asking for trouble.
