i drive a 2005 4runner sport with the stock radio equipment and i am about to put 2 boston 10" subwoofers and i was wondering if i would have to replace the stock stereo deck in order to connect the subs.

You don't have to, but I would suggest it. If you don't you will need a line out converter. I would suggest getting a new head unit though. It will make a big difference.

I ran my system with my factory deck and line out converter and it was ok. The problem is your sub will drown out everything else as the deck is low powered as the factory speakers are some of the worst i have seen. They seriously look like they came out of an 85 honda.

When i couldnt take it any longer i ripped it all out and ran a 5 channel amp to power everything. Major improvement, then the new kenwood was installed a few months later and again a major difference in SQ.

If i was to do it over again, i would definately get a new deck first, then later upgrade the components and rears.

i would get some boston acoustics pro 60 components! i heard these and they are awesome so i ordered some. But yea definitely get a new headunit first. Most people like the double din units but i dont think the single din look that bad at all and are much more affordable.

i know i will replace the deck at some point. but for now im not going to. what do yall suggest as far as the headunit goes?
