Will OE strut Top Plate work with FJ Susp?

Hi Gents

First off, I use many forums to educate myself about my hobby work and THis forum Impresses me. There is a wealth of info. and most is easily accessible... Thanks to all of you who have posted vital Info. !

So I bought a 2005 SR5 T4R 2 weeks ago... I really like this truck/ SUV It has great combination of on/off road driving agility, I am thoroughly impressed.
It has 76K on it and I bought it from a small dealer who was great to work with.

I just bought a new 2012 Bilstein suspension from a guy over @ FJ forums and he had everything except the Top plates for the front spring/shock combo.. b/c he had retained them for use on his truck.. My question is does anybody know if the stock top plates on my 2005 will work with the Bilstein combo from the FJ?

Also if they won't work I see That Wheelers Off Road sells replacement top plates anybody know if the FJ ones will fit our style trucks?

I swapped my stock suspension last weekend for an unused FJ suspension from a 2007 FJ. I used my factory top plates and they were a perfect fit.

If you plan to use the rear fj shocks, you'll have to do a little modification to make them fit. There's a thread somewhere on that. But as far as the top plate, it should work fine as long as the threaded end of the shock fits through the opening.

GREAT!!!! Thanks for the quick replies, I have read about the mods that need to be done seems a small bit of grinding on the width of the shock mount 41mm-39mm, and a cone shaped drill bit used to widen the lower shock mounts in the rear to accommodate the larger washer on the FJ Bilstein shock... Does that sound right? They should be arriving today I'm excited to get them on... I am going to combine with a 3/8" front spacer from wheelers off road.. Thanks For the help!:driving:

Sounds about right from what I remember reading. I would search it but I'm using tapatalk on my phone and can't find anything. Let us know how it goes..
