Hey guys I'm a new member here. I cleaned the inside of my 08' 4runner and my dad's '05 tacoma with pledge multi surface (dash, door panels, most of the plastics) and was wondering if using that will do any damage to the interior over time. I guess it's too late to be asking this since I've already done it, but I read somewhere that pledge will make all of the plastics crack, and that's the last thing I want to do. The interiors in both vehicles are in excellent condition and I've only done this once, but I wanted to see if anyone on here has had any personal experience with this kind of thing before I hold this as fact. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

YES!!!! DO NOT USE PLEDGE.
I used to detail cars and this will leave a huge buildup over time. Use a mild soap to clean and wipe down with a mixture of armor all and water to reduce shine if you want that semi gloss look.

And I was always told that Armor All was very bad for rubber and plastic??
I use Meguiars products and even then only lightly. There are better products still out there on the intranetters but Meguiars is readily avail. Like the OP, drying out rubbers and plastics no matter the product is a concern for me.

I use a damp chamois for regular cleaning and use 303 Aerospace Protectant a few times a year... never have had a cracked dash.
Pledge Multi-Surface is a lot different than what Pledge used to be and claims no build-up now. One of those new multi-surface products (might be Pledge or another brand) actually says it's good to use on leather, so probably no build-up with that, but read the product labels.

I think that everyone is on the right track here. Obviously moderation is the biggest key to no build-up.
I do think though that cracked dashboards are a near "thing of the past" with advanced plastics and UV protection. Gone are the days where a two-year old dash of a '70's car was wasted......thank God for that !!
