Will Scion HU fix hissing noise?

I have a 2 channel Alpine amp hooked up to the stock non-JBL head unit along with some 6.5" Infinity Reference components in the front. Realizing that the stock deck won't provide you with clean sound, I am still a little annoyed at the electrical "hissing" noise that comes through the speakers even when the radio is off. The loudness coincides with the rise and fall of the RPMs. And yes, I believe everything is properly grounded. Anyhow, my question is, will the Scion HU cure or at least significantly reduce this problem? To those of you with a similar setup to mine, what is the overall improvement in sound quality over the Toyota deck? I know the change won't be anywhere near as good as getting a decent aftermarket deck with a higher preamp voltage, but I still want to keep the stock look and still make an appreciable difference in sound quality.

chances are, that changing the deck wouldn't fix the problem. it's the way the wires are run through the car. it's alternator whine. best bet would be to rerun the wires through the car. making sure the speaker wires aren't anywhere near power lines, and preferably, the power wire and ground wire are on the other side of the car than the speaker wires.

of course if you don't feel comfortable with doing so, have it professionallly done.

The sound quality of the Scion HU is way better than the stock one. I really doubt it will have any affect on the whine tho. Like alpha said, you will probably need to rerun the wires to solve that problem. I have a 2 channel amp running a sub with the scion unit and dont have any whine problems. Good luck.

I had to put a choke on the power feed to the amp in another vehicle - a simple ferrite core with the power feed wound around a few times cured rpm-related whine.

I don't believe the HU would make a difference in the noise. Having recently put a Scion HU in, it has a remarkably better audio quality.
